The Cerritos College women’s soccer team was just one
win away from advancing to the state championships for
the first time in school history last season. This year,
the Falcons come into the playoffs riding a seven-game
winning streak and were seeded #2 for the upcoming
Southern California Regional Playoffs. The team, which
won their second straight South Coast Conference title,
open the playoffs this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at home
against #15-seed Ventura College. The top seed in
Southern California is Santiago Canyon College, who
defeated Cerritos last season in the third round of the
playoffs.
The contest
against Ventura will be the first of the season between
the two teams. The Pirates (12-5-4) came in second place
in the Western State Conference North Division this
season. The second round of the playoffs are scheduled
for next Tuesday (November 20) and if the Falcons win,
they will play at home. |
