Knowing they could
have put away quite a few goals, the Cerritos College
women’s soccer team chose to focus on passing and
defense in their 1-0 South Coast Conference win over Los
Angeles Harbor College on Friday. The Falcons, who have
five regular season games remaining, are now 14-2-3 on
the year and 4-1-2 in conference play. The same two
teams will meet up again on Monday at 3:00 p.m. in a
make-up game from earlier in the month.
The game’s lone goal was scored in
the 20th minute, as freshman forward
Brenda
Ramirez (Buena Park HS) picked up her
third goal of the season in just her eighth game, with
freshman midfielder
Alyesse Orr
(St. Joseph HS) registering her first assist.
Freshman
goalkeeper
Chantal
Cervero (Cerritos HS) wasn’t tested at
all in the game and was asked to make just one save. She
picked up her sixth shutout of the season, while the
offense helped her out by taking 20 shots, as freshman
forward
Monique Cisneros (Mayfair HS) led the
team with six shots on goal. |
