In her first year as an
assistant coach for the Falcon women’s
soccer team, Candice Silva joins the staff
with an extensive playing career and budding
coaching career. Most recently, she served
as an assistant coach at Cypress College
over the last two years, while she is
currently a coach with the OC Premiere teams
and a trainer of the girls U-9, U-14 and
U-15 teams. As early as a high school
senior, Silva was giving private lessons,
while she coached the Troy High girls
freshman team from 2003-04. She has also
served as an instructor at the Jack Hyde
Soccer Camps from 2006-07.
At the time she was getting her first
coaching experience, Silva was a member of
the Cypress College team and helped lead
them to the 2004 state championship after
they advanced to the championship game her
freshman year. In both seasons she earned
the Haas Scholarship, as well as the Faith
Awarded, which is given to the Most
Inspirational Player. Silva’s career
continued at San Francisco State University,
where she was their Team Captain in each of
her seasons, while she was also an
al-conference honorable mention choice as a
junior. A graduate of Troy High in
Fullerton, Silva was a two-time 1st
Team all-league selection, as well as a 2nd
Team All-CIF choice her senior year. In
addition, during her senior year, she was
named her school’s Female Athlete of the
Year and received the team’s Most
Inspirational Player.
Silva earned her AA degree from Cypress
College, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in
Communications from San Francisco State. She
is currently working on her Masters of
Science degree in Physical Education at
Azusa Pacific University and is in line to
complete her degree in February, 2010. Silva
is also a 2nd Degree black belt
in tae kwon do. |
