Although she qualified in three events at
the women's swimming stats championships, Cerritos
College freshman
Hanna
Anzai
(Cerritos
HS) reached
the championship round in
just two of the events. In the 100-yard freestyle, Anzai earned
All-American honors after she posted
a personal best time of 54.64 which put her in sixth
place overall out of the 16 competitors. Her time was
also just shy of the school record of
Phyllis Fewer,
who posted a time of 54.38 at the state championships in

Finals; Hanna Anzai Qualifies For State
Although the Cerritos College women’s
swimming team took sixth place at the South Coast
Conference championships this past weekend at Chaffey
College, the Falcons still had one of their swimmers
perform well enough to advance to the state
championships this weekend at Pasadena City College.

Overcomes Injuries To Compete In Championships
As the team’s lone competitor, Cerritos
College women’s diver Amanda Lemos (John Glenn
HS) not only had to contend with her opponents, but
several nagging injuries at the Conference Dive
Championships on Friday and Saturday at El Camino
College. The meet also served as a state qualifier, with
the top six in each event (along with two alternates)
advancing to the state championships. Competing in both
the 1-meter and three-meter competitions, Lemos placed
13th in the 1-meter event and 11th

Hanna Anzai
(Cerritos HS) turned in a tremendous performance
at the Pasadena Invitational last Thursday and Friday to
help lead Cerritos College to a ninth place finish with
127 team points. Next up for the Falcons will be the
South Coast Conference Championships, which will be held

Hondo And Lose To Mt. SAC
The Cerritos College women’s swimming
team split their two South Coast Conference meets at the
Falcon Pool on Friday afternoon to put their record at
4-2 on the year. The Falcons, who close out the
conference season this Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Chaffey
College, recorded a 99-22 win over Rio Hondo College,

Michelle Garoutte
(Lakewood HS) each won two events to help lead
the Cerritos College women’s swimming team to South
Coast Conference wins over El Camino College (81-49) and
Pasadena City College (79-48) on Friday afternoon. With
the wins, the Falcons are now 3-1 in the SCC and will
host Mt. San Antonio College and Rio Hondo College on

Invitational At Cuesta
Competing in one of the biggest
invitational events of the year, the Cerritos College
women’s swimming team put in a good effort by their
entrants, and had two of their relay teams do well,
while another swimmer cracked the top 10 in a race. The
Falcons now resume South Coast Conference action on
Friday, as they travel to Pasadena City College to face

03.10.06 - Falcons Split Two In
Conference Meet
The Cerritos College women’s swimming
team got their first look at two other squads in their
South Coast Conference meet on Friday and split against
them. The Falcons defeated Los Angeles Trade-Tech
College, 74-51, but dropped a 107-30 decision to host
Long Beach City College to see their conference record
move to 1-1. The team will now travel north to compete

Scoring Meet Of Season

(El Rancho HS) and
Hanna Anzai
(Cerritos HS) each came in ninth place in their
respective races for the Cerritos College women’s
swimming team at the Mt. San Antonio Invitational on
Saturday. As a team, the Falcons accumulated 15 team
points, which placed them 18th overall at the
invitational. The team will now take part in their first
South Coast Conference meet of the season when they
travel to Long Beach City College on Friday for a 3:00
p.m. match against the Vikings and Los Angeles
