05.20.08 - Two Falcons earn All-American honors
After qualifying for the state championships, a pair of Cerritos College women's swimmers have earned All-American honors for their efforts. Freshman Stephanie Rosero (Downey HS) and sophomore Salina Mesa (Montebello HS), who were the lone Falcons to qualify for the state championships, were both named Community College All-Americans. 05.09.08 - Women earn individual awards
After finishing a stellar freshman season with the Cerritos College swimming and water polo teams, Stephanie Rosero (Downey HS) was recently named the college’s Freshman Female Athlete of the Year, which is voted on the college’s head coaches. Carrillo, who was named the South Coast Conference Tri-Swimmer of the Year and qualified for the state championships in three events, was also named the conference’s Co-Player of the Year on the water polo team. After finishing second in the state with 104 goals this past season, Rosero was also selected All-American and 1st Team All-State. 05.03.08 - Another school record falls at state
Cerritos College freshman swimmer Stephanie Rosero (Downey HS) only held the school record in the 100-yard backstroke for one week. That's because she broke her own record on the third day of the California Community College Women's Swimming Championships on Saturday at Saddleback College. Rosero, who also checked in with a third place (50-yard backstroke) and a 13th place (500-yard freestyle) earlier in the weekend, concluded her season with a fifth place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.95...[more]

Cerritos College freshman swimmer Stephanie Rosero (Downey HS) improved on her 13th place finish in the 500-yard freestyle she turned in on the first day of the California Community College Swimming Championships, which are being held at Saddleback College. On the second day of competition, Rosero finished in a tie for third place in the 50-yard backstroke with Sarah Colvin of Ventura College, who both checked in with a time of 28.29. In addition to her finish, she also broke her own record in the event for the third time this season. Cerritos College freshman swimmer Stephanie Rosero (Downey HS) was the lone entry on the first day of the California Community College Athletic Association Men's Swimming Championships at Saddleback College on Friday. Rosero, who is one of two Falcons that qualified for the state championships, earned four team points for her 13th place finish in the 500-yard freestyle. The Cerritos College women’s swimming team will be represented by two athletes at this weekend’s State Swimming Championships at Saddleback College. For the third time in three days, the Cerritos College women's swimming team set a new school record, as the Falcons finished the South Coast Conference Championships at Pasadena City College in third place with 466 team points. 04.25.08 - Two school records fall at SCC Championships
Freshman Stephanie Rosero (Downey HS) is already making a name for herself with the Cerritos College women’s swimming team, as she won the South Coast Conference championship in the 50-yard backstroke on the second day of the conference championships at Pasadena City College. In addition to winning the event, she broke her own school record with a time of 28.37. It is the third time she has broken the record this year and beat her closest competition by three seconds. When Cerritos College freshman Hilary Baca joined the women's swimming team, she had no idea that by the end of the season she'd win the South Coast Conference championship and be the second alternate for the state championships. After the all of the divers from Southern California finished competing at El Camino College over the weekend, Baca came away with an eighth place showing in the 3-meter competition, while she placed ninth in the 1-meter event...[more]

04.14.08 - Freshman breaks two records at Pasadena Invite
Cerritos College freshman swimmer Stephanie Rosero (Downey HS) broke two records this past weekend at the Pasadena Invitational, as the Falcons came in sixth place. The top four teams all finished in a tight pack, with Diablo Valley College coming in first place with 588 team points, while Cerritos finished with 168 team points, with South Coast Conference opponent Chaffey College ahead of them in fourth place. 04.04.08 - Team wins two big conference meets
The Cerritos College women’s swimming team won a pair of South Coast Conference meets on Friday, as they defeated both Pasadena City College (85-42) and Los Angeles Trade-Tech College (115-6), which runs their record to 4-3 on the season. The Falcons will now enter the Pasadena Invitational, which will take place next Friday and Saturday...[more]

03.28.08 - Cerritos loses close conference meet
It came down to the 400-yard freestyle relay for the Cerritos College and Mt. San Antonio College women's swimming teams on Friday in their South Coast Conference meet. With the Falcons leading, 61-59, they would need to win the race, or the Mounties would pick up the seven points for first place and come away with the victory. Mt. SAC did just that, as their time of 4:00.76 was faster than the time of 4:05.04, and the Mounties registered a 66-61 victory. The Falcons will now travel to Pasadena City College on Friday to face the Lancers and Los Angeles Trade-Tech College in a three-way conference meet...[more]

03.08.08 - Falcons split first conference meet
The Cerritos College women’s swimming team split their two matches in their first South Coast Conference competition of the season. The Falcons (1-1), recorded an 87-35 win over El Camino College, while they were defeated, 94-28 by Chaffey College. This weekend, the team will compete in the Cuesta Invitational...[more]

03.01.08 - Freshman makes immediate impact for Falcons
Cerritos College freshman swimmer Stephanie Rosero (Downey HS) has already shown that she can make an immediate impact in the water. While on the water polo team, she finished second in the state in goals scored, while she was named the South Coast Conference Most Valuable Player. In just the second swimming meet of the season, Rosero has already broken one school record and is a fraction away from breaking another record. At the Mt. San Antonio Invitational over the weekend, Rosero won two events and placed in the top 10 in three other events, to help lead the Falcons to a 10th place finish out of 23 teams. Cerritos recorded 136 team points, with Sierra College winning the meet with 599 team points. Only Chaffey College finished ahead of the Falcons out of the six teams from the South Coast Conference that competed in the invitational...[more]
