The Cerritos College women’s swimming team won a
pair of South Coast Conference meets on Friday, as
they defeated both Pasadena City College (85-42) and
Los Angeles Trade-Tech College (115-6), which runs
their record to 4-3 on the season. The Falcons will
now enter the Pasadena Invitational, which will take
place next Friday and Saturday.
Over the
course of the meet, Cerritos won nine of the events,
with freshman
Stephanie
Rosero (Downey HS) capturing three
first place finishes, while freshman
Denise Vega
(Montebello HS) won two events and came in
second place in another. For Rosero, she broke her
own school record in the 50-yard backstroke with a
time of 29.13, after setting the new mark of 29.31
earlier in the season. Her second win came in the
100-yard backstroke, when she turned in a time of
1:06.56, while the top three finishers in the
500-yard freestyle were all Falcons. After Rosero’s
time of 5:37.70 easily won the race, she was
followed by freshman

Janine
Boutte (Downey HS) with a time of

enough for first place in the 200-yard freestyle.

200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:39.62,
while freshman Deyra Sanchez (Bell Gardens
HS) was a distant third.

while two relay teams won races. In the 200-yard
medley relay, the quartet of Rosero, Chiaromonte,
Mesa and Llamas turned in a time of 2:03.81 to win
the race, while Boutte, Vega, freshman
