Cerritos College freshman swimmer
Stephanie Rosero (Downey
HS) improved on her 13th place
finish in the 500-yard freestyle she
turned in on the first day of the
California Community College
Swimming Championships, which are
being held at Saddleback College. On
the second day of competition,
Rosero finished in a tie for third
place in the 50-yard backstroke with
Sarah Colvin of Ventura College, who
both checked in with a time of
28.29. In addition to her finish,
she also broke her own record in the
event for the third time this
season. Rosero set the old record of
28.37 in the South Coast Conference
Championships last weekend.
Also representing the Falcons on
Friday was sophomore
Salina Mesa (Montebello
HS), who placed 13th in the
50-yard butterfly with a time of
28.57. Last year, Mesa placed sixth
in the state championships in the
50-yard butterfly.
The two will also swim on Saturday,
with Rosero in the 100-yard
backstroke and Mesa in the 100-yard
butterfly. After the second day of
competition, the Falcons are tied
for 19th with 23.5 team points.
