Natalie Peng
(Cerritos HS) saved her best performance in
the 100-yard butterfly for the California Community
College Swimming State Championships at Belmont
Plaza Pool in Long Beach on Saturday. In addition to
breaking her school record time with a 57.29
performance, Peng finished second in the state to
help lead the Falcons to an 11th place finish as a
team with 129 team points.
The only swimmer
to beat Peng in the race was San Diego Mesa
College's Murphy Wimer, who won the race with a time
of 56.34. Peng's old school record time was 58.11.
Also competing on
the final day of the tournament was freshman
Jenel Lopez
(La Serna HS), who finished eighth in the
100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.74. The
400-yard freestyle relay team also placed 11th while
breaking their own school record. The quartet of

Hannah
Llamas (Gahr HS), Peng and
freshman
Gina Kim
(Sunny Hills HS) posted a time of 3:41.57.
