05.25.11 - Pair of swimmers earn All-American honors

championships and concluded their careers with a pair of
All-American honors. Ku, who placed ninth in the state
championships in the 50-yard backstroke, posted the
ninth fastest time in the country at 28.70, while her
time of 1:03.42 was good for 11th place at the state
championships and the 16th fastest time in the

04.30.11 - School record falls at state championships
All year long,
Cerritos College sophomore swimmer Mehgan Carbajal
(El Rancho HS) had been in search of breaking
the school record in the 100-yard breaststroke. On
Saturday, in her final attempt to break the record, she
did just that at the California Community College
Athletic Association State Championships at East Los
Angeles College. In the prelims, Carbajal posted a
record time of 1:09.28, eclipsing the old mark of
1:09.97 set by Ashley Badali in a 2007

04.28.11 - Swimmer finishes 11th in state finals
Cerritos College sophomore swimmer Jessie
Ku (Cerritos HS) finished 10th in
the preliminaries for the 100-yard IM with a time of
1:03.49, which qualified her to compete in the
consolation championships at the California Community
College Women's Swimming State Championships at East Los
Angeles College on Friday. Had she matched her best time
of the season - 1:03.13 - she would have finished in a
tie for eighth place and competed in the championship
finals. In the consolation finals, Ku posted a time of

events
The Cerritos College
women's swimming team will be sending a pair of athletes
to the 2011 California Community College Women's
Swimming State Championships at East Los Angeles College

04.23.11 - Cerritos locks down third place at finals
The Cerritos College
women's swimming team held off hard-charging Pasadena
City College and secured third place at the South Coast
Conference Championships, which were held at the Falcon
Aquatic Center. The Falcons finished with 481 team
points, while the Lancers were fourth with 444 team
points. Chaffey College won the points championship with
784 points, with Mt. San Antonio College in second place
at 657 points. The team will find out on Monday who has
qualified for the State Championships, which will take
place at East Los Angeles College on April 28-30...[more]
04.22.11 - Pair of championships highlight day

Conference championships on Saturday at the Falcon
Aquatic Center, as they team jumped ahead of two teams
and into third place after the second day. The final day
of the conference championships will begin at 10:00 a.m.
on Saturday. Cerritos currently sits in third place with
342 team points with only Chaffey College (562 points)
and Mt. San Antonio (438 points) in the team

04.21.11 - Falcons in fifth place after first day
After
the first day of the South Coast Conference Swimming
Championships, Cerritos College is in fifth place out of
the eight schools, but is within striking distance of
jumping up several spots with 13 more events to be
decided. Chaffey College led after the first day with
229 team points, while Cerritos has 124 points. The
Falcons, who are hosting the three-day event, turned in
a second and third place in the six events that were
held on Friday. Start time for the next two days is

04.09.11 - Falcons finish ninth in limited events
Competing in a limited amount of events at the Pasadena
Invitational, the Cerritos College women's swimming team
still finished in ninth place out of the 14 schools that
competed. The Falcons, who had a pair of fourth place
finishes, along with a fifth and two sixth place
finishes, compiled 167 team points. The team will now
send their divers to the South Coast Conference Diving
Championships, which will be held at El Camino College

03.25.11 - Pair of wins makes Falcons 5-1 on the year
On the
strength of their South Coast Conference wins over both
El Camino College and Rio Hondo College on Friday, the
Cerritos College women's swimming team is now 5-1 with
one conference meet remaining. The Falcons, who host Mt.
San Antonio College on Friday at 12:30 p.m., defeated
both the host Warriors (176-86) and the Roadrunners
(187-29), as they picked up wins in 11 individual races

03.18.11 - Cerritos sweeps pair of conference
opponents
The Cerritos College women's swimming team picked up a
pair of wins on Friday in their South Coast Conference
meet. The Falcons hosted Pasadena City College and Los
Angeles Trade-Tech College in their first meet of the
season at the Falcon Aquatic Center. By the end of the
final race, Cerritos had posted a 160-110 win over
Pasadena City, while LA Trade-Tech did not field any
swimmers, and were defeated, 225-0. Cerritos will now
travel to El Camino College on Friday for a 2:30 p.m.

03.12.11 - Falcons swim well in limited events
Although the Chaffey Invitational was a two-day event
that consisted of 20 events, the Cerritos College
women's swimming team had entries in just seven events.
Although they finished in eighth place out of nine
school with 145 team points, the Falcons did well in
events in which they competed. Cerritos will now resume
South Coast Conference action and host both Los Angeles
Trade-Tech College and Pasadena City College at 12:30

03.04.11 - Team splits first conference meet
The
Cerritos College women's swimming team opened South
Coast Conference play on Friday with a three-way meet at
Chaffey College on Friday and split with the two teams.
The Falcons recorded a 136-106 win over Long Beach City
College, but were defeated by the host Panthers, 168-93.
The team will now travel back to the same location this
weekend for the Chaffey Invitational...[more]
02.25.11 - Cerritos excels in several events at
Golden West
Although they placed fifth out of seven teams at the
Golden West Invitational on Friday, the Cerritos College
women's swimming team did perform very well in a variety
of events, as they won two races and placed second in
four others. The Falcons finished with 640 teams points
at the invitational. The team will now open South Coast
Conference play on Friday when they travel to Long Beach
City College to face the host Vikings and Chaffey

02.18.11 - Falcons win two events at pentathlon
Cerritos College sophomore swimmer Jessie Ku (Cerritos
HS) won two events, while placing second, fourth and
fifth in other events at the South Coast Conference
Pentathlon, which was held Friday at the Falcon Aquatics
Center. The event hosted all of the teams within the
conference, with the Falcons swimming well in each of
the events. The team will now move on and compete in the

02.05.11 - Cerritos has two finish in top three
A pair
of sophomore swimmers finished in the top three at the
Waterman Festival Pentathlon on Friday at Palomar
College, while the team had four more winners at the
relays the following day. Jessie Ku (Cerritos
HS) dominated the five-event pentathlon, as she
finished first with an overall time of 3:03.72, with
Riverside College's Drea Antonissen a distant second
place at 3:08.57. Meghan Carbajal (El Rancho
HS) was third overall with a combined time of

All-American
After finishing in
11th place at the State Championships last weekend, the
Cerritos College women's swimming team found out that
four of their relay teams earned All-American status, as
did three individual swimmers. The Falcons, who also
placed second at the South Coast Conference
Championships, broke all five relay school records this
season, as well as a pair of individual school
