04.27.12 - Final players eliminated from Ojai Tournament
On the second day of the 112th Annual Ojai Tennis Tournament, the final two Cerritos College players were eliminated from the tournament, as the doubles team of freshman Mandi Jenkins (Connections Academy HS) and sophomore Kim Diaz (Norwalk HS) were eliminated from the tournament in their Round or 32 match against Samantha Sismundo and Sevana Zaragarian of Glendale College, 3-6, 1-6. 04.26.12 - Cerritos doubles team wins first match at Ojai
In their opening match at the 112th Annual Ojai Tennis Tournament, the Cerritos College women's tennis doubles team of freshman Mandi Jenkins (Connections Academy HS) and sophomore Dominique Luna (Santa Fe HS) easily defeated Niki Green and Carly Peloquin of College of the Desert, 6-0, 6-0, which advances them to the Round of 32, which will take place on Friday. 04.20.12 - Pair of doubles teams advance
The Cerritos College women's tennis team has advanced a pair of their doubles teams after they reached the Round of 8 at the South Coast Conference Tournament on Friday. The Falcons, who did not qualify any players in singles action, will be represented by freshman Mandi Jenkins (Connections Academy HS) and sophomore Dominique Luna (Santa Fe HS), as well as sophomores Kimberly Diaz (Norwalk HS) and Hui You Sohn (Cerritos HS). 04.05.12 - Falcons win despite only five players
Two days ago, the Cerritos College women's tennis team suffered a close loss when they were only able to suit up five players. On Thursday, the Falcons again were short one player, but picked up two wins in doubles play to register a 5-4 non-conference win at Rio Hondo College. The win improved the team's record to 5-12 in their final match before the start of the South Coast Conference Tournament, which will be hosted by Cerritos on April 19-20...[more]

04.03.12 - Short-handed Cerritos drops 5-4 decision
Playing with just five players, the Cerritos College women's tennis team knew they would have to forfeit one singles and one doubles match in their non-conference contest against Irvine Valley College. The two points they surrendered turned out to be the difference in a 5-4 loss to the Lasers (4-9), as the Falcons dropped to 4-12 on the year. 03.29.12 - Falcons handed defeat by El Camino
Cerritos drops conference match to El CaminoThe Cerritos College women's tennis team closed out their South Coast Conference schedule on Thursday with an 8-1 loss to visiting El Camino College. The team will play a pair of non-conference matches before serving as host of the South Coast Conference Championships. The Falcons (4-11, 3-6) will host visiting Irvine Valley College at 2:00 p.m. next Tuesday.

In the loss to the Warriors, only freshman Nancy Audetat (Norwalk HS) was able to come away with a win, as she recorded a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 win over Fiat Tapaneeyakorn. It was the first win of the season for Audetat against an El Camino opponent after dropping a marathon three-set match in one meeting and another close match the second time. On the strength of some solid singles play, coupled with dominant doubles success, the Cerritos College women's tennis team recorded an 8-1 South Coast Conference win over host Long Beach City College on Tuesday afternoon. The win by the Falcons improves their record to 4-10 overall and 3-5 in the SCC, with all three wins coming against the Vikings. 03.22.12 - Team no match for Mt. San Antonio
For the third time this season, the Cerritos College women's tennis team has faced Mt. San Antonio College in a South Coast Conference match, and for the third time they were defeated by a 9-0 score. The loss by the Falcons drops their season record to 3-10, while they are now 2-5 in SCC play with two more matches remaining. Cerritos will also play a pair of non-conference matches after their SCC schedule is completed, with the team travelling to Long Beach City College next Tuesday for a 2:00 p.m. contest...[more]

03.15.12 - Falcons suffer third straight loss
In their non-conference match against Cypress College on Thursday, the Cerritos College women's tennis team was able to win only one of the six singles matches, which meant that no matter what happened in doubles play, the Falcons would be suffering their third straight loss. As a result, the Chargers decided to default all three doubles matches, making the final score, 5-4. On their second of three matches in California, the Pima (AZ) Community College women's tennis team picked up their second win in as many days, as they defeated Cerritos College, 7-2 on Wednesday. On Tuesday, the Cerritos College women's tennis team was defeated by El Camino College, 8-1 in a South Coast Conference match. The setback drops the Falcons record to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in SCC play, with the team now hosting Pima (AZ) College in a non-conference match at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cerritos College women's tennis team picked up their second win over Long Beach City College on Thursday with a 5-4 South Coast Conference win to improve to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in SCC play. 03.06.12 - Cerritos handled by Mt. San Antonio
Cerritos drops conference match to Mt. San Antonio, 9-0For the second time this season, the Cerritos College women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 South Coast Conference loss against Mt. San Antonio College. On Tuesday, the Falcons hosted the Mounties, and were swept in all five singles matches, as the team played short-handed due to an injury. Cerritos (2-6 overall, 1-3 SCC) is scheduled to host Albion (MI) College, an NCAA Division II school at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.

In singles play, freshman Nancy Audetat (Norwalk HS) played a tight match against Nicole Gandasutisna, only to come up short in a 7-5, 7-5 decision, while sophomore Dominique Luna (Santa Fe HS) extended Rebekah Penner in the second set, 7-6 (7-4) after getting shut out in the first set, 6-0. Hosting Palomar College in a non-conference match on Friday, the Cerritos College women's tennis team was swept, 9-0, which drops their season record to 2-5. The Falcons will resume South Coast Conference action on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. when they host Mt. San Antonio College. In the loss to the Comets, only two players won as many as three games in singles play, with the team coming close to picking up one team point in doubles play...[more]

02.28.12 - Conference match ends in 8-1 loss
Cerritos drops 8-1 conference match to El Camino.Looking to win two of three matches in the first round of South Coast Conference play, the Cerritos College women's tennis team suffered an 8-1 setback at the hands of visiting El Camino College on Tuesday. The loss dropped the Falcons to 2-4 on the season and 1-2 in conference play. Cerritos will now host Palomar College on Friday at 2:00 p.m. in a non-conference match.

The lone winner for the Falcons against the Warriors was sophomore Kim Diaz (Norwalk HS), who posted a 7-6 (5), 6-4 win over Fiat Tapaneeyakorn in the #4 singles position. Diaz was also involved in the closest doubles match, as she pair with freshman Mandi Jenkins (Connections Academy HS) in the #1 position for an 8-6 setback. Freshman Nancy Audetat (Norwalk HS) also played a three-set singles match at #5, but came up shy in a 7-6 (7-1), 1-6, 9-11 decision against Ashley Guerrero...[more]
 

02.23.12 - Cerritos posts win over LBCC to even SCC record
Cerritos picked up conference win over Long Beach City College.The Cerritos College women's tennis team evened their South Coast Conference record at 1-1 with a convincing 7-2 win over visiting Long Beach City College on Thursday afternoon. The Falcons (2-3 overall) swept all six singles matches to secure the team victory and could have swept the match, but dropped a pair of doubles matched by 9-7 scores. Cerritos will now host El Camino College on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. in another South Coast Conference match. With only four teams in the conference, this match will mark the end of the first of three rounds of play between the teams.

In four of the six singles wins, the Falcons recorded sweeps, while two of the matches were extended to third set tie-breakers. Sophomore Dominique Luna (Santa Fe HS) split the first two sets with Ellise Herrera in the #2 position, 6-3, 2-6, but went on to record a 10-7 win in the tie-breaker. Freshman Amy Peterson (Norwalk HS) dropped the first set in the #6 position, 4-6 to Ana Casillas, but came back and won the match by winning 6-0, 10-6. Freshman Mandi Jenkins (Connections Academy HS) won, 6-1, 6-2 at the top of the singles ladder, while sophomore Hui You Sohn (Cerritos HS) posted a 6-0, 6-3 win at #3. Not only were the Cerritos College women's tennis team playing short-handed with just five players, they were facing an experienced Mt. San Antonio College team, who went on to record a 9-0 victory. The loss by the Falcons dropped their overall mark to 1-3 on the year, while they are 0-1 in SCC play. The team will now host Long Beach City College at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday...[more]

02.16.12 - Close match results in Fullerton win
Cerritos dropped close 5-4 decision to Fullerton.In one of their tightest matches of the young season, the Cerritos College women's tennis team came out on the short end of a 5-4 non-conference decision against Fullerton College on Friday afternoon. The Falcons, who split the six singles matches, needed a pair of wins in doubles play to pull out the win, but dropped a close match in the #3 position, which decided the winner. Cerritos (1-2) will now open South Coast Conference play on Tuesday when they travel to Mt. San Antonio College for a 2:00 p.m. match.

In the deciding doubles match, the duo of freshman Nancy Audetat (Norwalk HS) and Amy Peterson (Norwalk HS) were unable to take a 1-0 set lead when the team of Monique Fitchett and Bianzca Pulido squeezed out a 7-6 win, which included an 11-9 score in the tie-breaker. The second set was more of the same, as the Falcon duo looked to move to another tie-breaker, but dropped a 7-5 decision...[more]

 

02.09.12 - Cerritos posts big win over Mt. San Jacinto
Cerritos posts first win of the season, 8-1 over Mt. San Jacinto.The Cerritos College women's tennis team earned their first win of the season, as they defeated visiting Mt. San Jacinto College, 8-1 in a non-conference match on Thursday. The Falcons (1-1) will now host Fullerton College in a non-conference match at 2:00 p.m. next Thursday. The win over the Eagles was a victory over former Cerritos head coach Rosanna Chatman, who is an assistant coach at Mt. San Jacinto.

In singles play, the Falcons posted a sweep, which included a default win in the #6 position. At the top of the ladder, freshman Mandi Jenkins (Connections Academy HS) registered a straight-set 6-3, 6-1 win, as did sophomores Kim Diaz (Norwalk HS), a 7-5, 6-2 winner, and Hui You Sohn (Cerritos HS), 6-1, 6-4 to complete the top half of the ladder. Freshman Nancy Audetat (Norwalk HS) had an easy 6-0, 6-0 win, while sophomore Dominique Luna (Santa Fe HS) was extended to a third set before pulling out a 3-6, 6-4, 10-5 victory..

02.02.12 - Falcons swept in season opener

Cerritos College women's tennis team drops their home opener, 9-0 to Ventura.The 2012 season got off to a rocky start for the Cerritos College women's tennis team, as Ventura College posted a 9-0 non-conference win on Thursday. The Falcons, who were swept in all of the matches, will host Mt. San Jacinto College at 2:00 p.m. next Thursday. The match against the Pirates was the home opener, as well as season opener for Cerritos.
 
Aside from freshman Nancy Audetat (Norwalk HS) in the #5 singles position, who dropped a 6-0, 7-6 (7-3) decision to Carolyn Morris, the Falcons won just three total games in singles play. Freshman Mandi Jenkins (Connections Academy HS) was swept, 6-0, 6-0 in the #1 singles position in the ladder, with freshman Amy Peterson (Norwalk HS) able to win a pair of games in her #6 position...[more]

After both doubles teams and the one singles player that advance to the Southern California Regional Tournament were eliminated, the Cerritos College women's tennis season officially came to an end.
