Just
completing her fifth season as the Cerritos
College women’s tennis head coach, Rosanna
Chatman has led her teams to the South Coast
Conference championship in four of those
years. This past season, he guided them to
the conference championship with a 9-0
record and a berth in the Southern
California Regional Team Playoffs. Although
they were defeated in the first round by
Cuesta College, the team finished the year
with a 15-4 record. She opened her career
with the Falcons by winning back-to-back SCC
titles for the first time in school history
and also won the title the last two years.
She has led four of her teams to the
Southern California Regional Playoffs and in
her five seasons has a combined record of
58-20 overall and 37-4 in conference action.
Once again, Chatman
brought in a strong group of freshmen to
compliment the returning players. Chatman
spent one season as an assistant coach under
Terri Button before taking over as the head
coach. Now in the lead position, Chatman has
been able to put together a strong team each
year and brings with her a familiarity of
the program.
Back in 1993-94, Chatman
played for Button at Cerritos College and
was the team’s #2 singles player while
formed one half of the team’s top doubles
duo as a sophomore. Upon graduation, she
received a scholarship to play tennis at Cal
State Dominguez Hills. From 1998-2006,
Chatman was also the girl’s varsity tennis
coach at Cerritos High, where she led them
to seven Suburban League championships and
an overall record of 144-20.
Chatman is
married and has three sons – Daniel (10),
Michael (8) and Aaron (6). |
