04.18.08 - ANNIKA YOU DEFEATED IN CONFERENCE FINALS
    Cerritos College sophomore tennis player Annika You (John Marshall HS/Cal Poly Pomona) was unable to defeat her toughest opponent all season long, as she was beaten by Long Beach City College's Courtney Petero, 2-6, 3-6 in the finals of the South Coast Conference Singles Championships at LBCC on Friday. On top of that defeat, You and her doubles partner, sophomore Sonia Gutierrez (Norwalk HS) were defeated in the doubles championship by Petero and Kim Stern, 6-3, 6-0, just 30 minutes after the conclusion of their singles match.
 
    The win by Petero over You was her third in four matches, while Petero and three different doubles partners defeated You and three different doubles partners four times this season.
 
    Next for Cerritos will be the Ojai Tournament, which will take place at the Oxnard Tennis Center next Thursday through Sunday. 

The top eight finishers at the SCC Championships qualify for the Southern California Regionals.
