The Cerritos College women's tennis team dropped to 0-2
on the season after suffering an 8-1 non-conference loss
at Orange Coast College on Tuesday afternoon. The
Falcons will look for their first win on Thursday when
they travel to Irvine Valley College for a 2:00 p.m.
non-conference match.
Freshman
Alana Johnson (Gahr HS) was the
lone winner for the Falcos, as she posted a 6-4, 6-1 win
over Hannah Mancino in the #5 position. Newcomer
Samantha Nadres (Troy HS) made her
debut and was defeated in three sets, 7-6 (7), 4-6, 3-6
to Brittany Bass in the #1 position.
In doubles action, the duo of sophomore
Shamariah
DeRojas (La Mirada HS) and
freshman
Michelle Yi (Warren HS) played the
toughest match, but came up on the losing end of an 8-5
score in the #3 spot against Nicole Naughton and Julia
Garofalo.
