    The bottom half of the singles ladder swept through their matches in straight sets, while all three doubles teams won in straight sets, as the Cerritos College women's tennis team picked up their fifth straight win, defeating Mt. San Antonio College, 8-1 on Thursday. The South Coast Conference win by the Falcons improves their record to 5-2 on the season, while they are 2-0 in SCC action. The team will now head down to San Diego Mesa College for a weekend tournament.
 
    At the top of the singles ladder, the Falcons needed to go into tie-breakers to win, while the bottom of the ladder lost just eight games combined. Freshman Alana Johnson (Gahr HS), who played in the #4 position, posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory, while sophomores Shamariah DeRojas (La Mirada HS) and Cristina Sanchez (La Mirada HS) won their matches by scores of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-3, respectively.
 
    Freshman Samantha Nadres (Troy HS) was extended to a third-set tie-breaker before she defeated Arielle Monteil, 6-1. 4-6 (10-5), while freshman Christina Nguyen (Gahr HS) persevered in a 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 victory. The only singles player who suffered a defeat was sophomore Gabriele Diaz, who dropped a 3-6, 0-6 decision in the #2 position.
 
    As they have done recently, the doubles teams won in straight sets, led by Nadres and freshman Michelle Yi (Warren HS), who posted a 6-1, 6-2 win in the #1 position. Nguyen and Diaz teamed for a 6-2. 6-4 victory, with DeRojas and Sanchez finishing off the win with a 6-1, 6-2 decision.
