The Cerritos College womens
track and field competed in the University of LaVerne
Invitational over the weekend and went up against a
group of four-year universities, along with several
community colleges. The Falcons fared extremely well, as
they had athletes place as high as second place in four
different events. The team will now travel north to take
part in the Stanford Invitational on Saturday and go up
against Division I schools.
Sophomore
Nicole
Phillips (Lakewood HS) took second place
in the 100 meters and followed that up with a third
place finish in the 200 meters, and was beat out by Long
Beach Citys Angela Wells in both events. Sophomore
teammate
Kristal Joyner (Cypress HS) placed second
in the 200 meters. The trio of sophomores
Katie Black
(Downey HS),
Tatyanna Ricks
(Lakewood HS) and
Jacqueline
Taylor (Long Beach Poly HS), who took the
top three spots at the Southern California Heptathlon
Championships earlier in the week, all tied for second
place in the high jump, while Taylor placed third in the
javelin.
Below is a list of how the team did in the
