For the second year in a row, the
Cerritos College women's track and field team captured
the Southern California Championship, as they
accumulated 117 team points and beat out second place
Moorpark College, who finished with 100 team points. The
team will now embark on the state championships, which
will take place at Bakersfield College this Friday and
Saturday.
Helping the team to the championship
were the two first place finishes by freshman
Sherrelle
Dilworth
(Vallejo
HS)
in the 100 meters in 11.91 and freshman
Yasmin Webb
(Buena
Park HS)
in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:01.56. Dilworth
also placed second in the 200 meters in a time of 24.45,
while the 1600-meter relay team came in second place and
the 400-meter relay team finished third. The 400-meter
relay team consists of sophomore

freshman
Tavonia Clay
(Moskegan,
WI HS),
freshman Amanda Rosencrantz (Kennedy HS) and Dilworth,
while the 1600-meter relay team will be comprised of
sophomore
