On the heels of helping lead the
Cerritos College women's track and field team to their
second state championship in school history, Falcon
Director of Track and Field
Doug
Wells
has been chosen to serve as the Head Manager for the
U.S. National Track and Field Team. Wells was selected
by a special staff selection meeting of the
International Competition Committee at the USA Track and
Field National Convention. He will guide them at the NACAC
Under-23 Team, which will be held in Santo Domingo,

of your dedication to the sport and of the many
accomplishments you have achieved during your career in
athletics. Being chosen by your peers makes this honor
even more important."

Cerritos for the last 17 years and helped lead the
women's team to the last two Southern California and
South Coast Conference championships, along with the
state title this year. He also works with the men's
track team, and they are perennial top 10 finishers in
the state championships. As the Falcon track coach. he
was named the California Coaches Association Coach of
the Year three times in his career, while he was awarded
the Coach of the Year honor by the California Track and
Running News five times. Prior to coming to the Falcons,
he spent 10 years at Taft College, where he guided his
teams to a state championship and seven conference
titles, while he was named the California Coach of the
Year twice. In addition to his track duties, Wells has
also been the men's cross country coach the last seven
years and spent time as an assistant football coach for
