05.19.07 - Women come
in 14th place at state championships
Last season, the Cerritos College women's
track and field team concluded a remarkable season by
winning their second state championship in school
history. The team was represented by five individuals
and one relay this this past weekend at San Mateo
College in the state championships, and placed 14th out
of 42 schools with 20 team points. American River
College won the team championship with 90.5 team points,
and edged Laney College, who had 83 points. South Coast
Conference opponent Mt. San Antonio College came in

05.12.07 - Falcons
send five individuals and one relay team to state
The Cerritos College women's track and
field team advanced athletes in five individual events
and one relay team to the state championships, which
will be held at San Mateo College this weekend. The
performance turned in by the Falcons at the Southern
California Championships this past weekend at UC San
Diego earned them an eighth place team finish with their
36 points. Those that will represent Cerritos include

05.05.07 - Team moves
athletes on to SoCal Finals
The
Cerritos College women's track and field team have
advanced nine individuals, as well as both of their
relay teams to the Southern California Finals, which
will be held at UC San Diego next Saturday. Of the nine
individuals who have advanced in the non-relay events,
only one did so in multiple events. Freshman thrower
Maria
Rodriguez (Bell HS) advanced in all three
events in which she competed, as she finished fifth in
both the hammer and discus, while she came in eighth
place in the shot put. Three other Falcons advanced in
field events, with freshman

Johnson (Long Beach Poly HS) advancing

finish in second place at conference finals
The
Cerritos College women's track and field team won four
different events at the South Coast Conference
Championships on Friday at Falcon Stadium and earned
enough points to come in second place. The team finished
the meet with 147 team points and trailed only eventual
champion Mt. San Antonio College, who had 297 points. The top six from all of
the events that were
held now advance to the
Southern California
Prelims, which will take
place on Saturday,
starting at 9:00 a.m. at UC

04.21.07 - Cerritos
advances 14 to conference finals
At the South Coast Conference
Preliminaries, which where held at Cerritos College on
Saturday, the Falcon women's track and field team had 10
runners finish in the top 12 to advance to the finals,
while four in field events have also advanced. The
top 12 individuals in all of the events that were
contested move on to the South Coast Conference
Championships, which will also be held at Cerritos on
Friday, starting at 12:00 p.m. Several of the events
were finals and the Falcons picked up two team points
from freshman

04.13.07 - Team gets
in final meet before prelims
The
Cerritos College women's track and field team competed
in the Pacific Coast Invitational at The Home Depot
Center on Friday and had one relay team come in first
place, while the team also had another place first in an
individual event. Of the 11 events that were held,
Cerritos competed in eight of them. It served as a final
tune-up, as the team will now host the South Coast
Conference Prelims, which will be held on Saturday, with
the first event slated to begin at 10:00 a.m...[more]

the top three spots in the long jump at the Fresno
Invitational on Saturday to help the Cerritos College
women's track and field team come in second place
overall. The Falcons compiled 115 team points and
trailed only Sacramento City College, who had 160 team
points and won the invitational. Cerritos will now
compete in the prestigious Mt. San Antonio Invitational

two winners on the 2nd day of California Relays

Amanda
Rosencranz (Kennedy HS) turned in
a time of 57.50 in the 400 meters for the Cerritos
College women's track and field team to win the event on
the second day of the California Relays, which was held
at Cerritos College. She was joined by the 1600-meter
relay team, which also won their event in a time of
4:05.92. The Falcons will now travel north and split the
squad to compete in the Fresno Invitational and the

open California Relays with strong showing

first and second in the shot put at the first day of
events at the Cerritos Relays, which are being held at
Cerritos College. Rodriguez turned in a throw of 41' 1",
while McClain's second place toss went for 33' 9". The
second day of events starts with high school events
getting underway at 11:00 a.m. with the first community
college event starting at 1:00 p.m. The highlight of the
day will be the track and field dedication ceremony,

athletes do well at Bakersfield Relays
Facing some very tough competition at the
Bakersfield Relays over the weekend, the Cerritos
College women's track and field team won three different
events and finished in the top three 14 different times.
The team will now root on their heptathletes, as
Cerritos hosts the Southern California Heptathlon
Championships on Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 9:30

second in conference meet
The Cerritos College women's track and
field team finished in a solid second place on Thursday
at the South Coast Conference All Teams Invitational,
which was held at Falcon Stadium. The team earned 138
team points and only trailed Mt. San Antonio, who
recorded 277 team points. Next up for the Falcons is the
Bakersfield Relays, which will be held on Friday and

The Cerritos College women's track and
field team spent this past Friday going up against some
university athletes at the USC Trojan Relays and will
get back to community college competition this weekend.

very well at first meet on new track
Competing for the first time on their
brand new track, the Cerritos College women's track and
field had several outstanding performances at the
Cerritos Invitational, which took place on Friday and
Saturday. The team will now enter the USC Invitational

defeat two of three conference opponents
The Cerritos College women's track
team opened their South Coast Conference season by
winning two out of three in their first meet of the
season on Friday. The Falcons, the defending state
champions, posted wins over Long Beach City (135-96) and
El Camino College (135-67), while they dropped a 183-135
score to Mt. San Antonio College. The team will now
compete in the Cerritos Invitational on March 23-24,
which will serve as the inaugural meet on the school's
