| Was a member of the state
championship team last season… Placed fourth in
the 800 meters at the South Coast Conference
Championships… Also competed in the 1500 meters
(5:05.90) and 3000 meter steeplechase (13:53.7)…
Spent two seasons on the Falcon cross country
team… As a sophomore, she placed 51st
overall as the team came in seventh place… Also
came in 47th place at the Southern
California Championships, along with a 21st
place showing at the South Coast Conference
Championships… In her freshman season, she
helped lead the team to a 10th place
finish in the state championships last year by
placing 57th overall… Also came in 27th
place at the Southern California Championships…
Was a member of the South Coast Conference
championship team and place fifth in the finals
with a time of 21:05… Spent three years on the
cross country and track teams in high school,
while she spent one on the soccer team… Posted a
personal best time of 19:24 as a senior and was
the cross country team’s Most Valuable Player as
a sophomore and junior… Named the track team’s
Most Valuable Player as a senior and junior… Was
their Most Improved Player as a sophomore and as
a freshman on the junior varsity team… Won the
San Gabriel Valley League championship in the
1600 meters her junior year… Posted a personal
best time of 2:28 in the 800 meters, while her
best time in the 1600 meters was 5:25… Most
memorable moment was when she won the San
Gabriel Valley League championship in the 1500
meters… Father, uncles and brother both played
soccer in high school… Likes to run in her spare
time… Nicknamed “Princess”… Has three siblings –
Manuel (18), Carolina (14) and Raquel (10)… Is
the daughter of Manuel and Raquel Vargas… Born
in Long Beach, CA on June 14, 1987….. |
