Cerritos College
freshman
Aundrea Stovall (Lynwood HS)
was the school's lone entry in the Southern
California Heptathlon Championships, which the
Falcons hosted on Tuesday and Wednesday. With the
top eight scoring points toward the Southern
California Championships and the top six advancing
to the state championships, it presented a good
chance for the team to get some early points. But
Stovall finished in ninth place with 3844 points and
did not garner any team points. The team will now
compete in the SCC Preview Meet this Friday at
Compton College at noon.
Stovall, who point
total was the fifth best in school history, did win
the javelin with a distance of 106' 3", which was
her best finish out of the eight that comprise the
heptathlon. In addition, she turned in a second
place finish in the shot put (32' 2 1/4") and was
third in the high jump at 5' 2", but struggled in
the others, which saw her drop in the standings.
She slipped to
ninth in the long jump with a distance of 15' 5
1/4", while her time of 2:34.43 put her in 13th
place out of the 28 who competed.
