05.21.11 - Falcons finish in fourth place at State
Championships
The Cerritos College women's track and field team
concluded an outstanding season over the weekend by
finishing fourth in the California Community College
Athletic Association state championships at American
River College. The Falcons finished with 50 team points
and trailed co-champions - and conference rivals - Mt.
San Antonio College and El Camino College, who had 81
team points, as well as host American River with 69 team
points. Had Cerritos been able to match some of their
best times and distances of the year at the state
championships, they would have also been in the running

05.13.11 - Cerritos wins two events at SoCal
Championships
With their 73 team points earning them a third place
finish at the Southern California Championships at Mt.
San Antonio College on Friday, the Cerritos College
women's track and field team finished third overall,
which included a pair of individual champions. The
qualifying Falcons will now compete in the California
Community College Athletic Association
state championships this weekend at American River
College. Finishing ahead of Cerritos at the SoCal
Championships were South Coast Conference rivals Mt. San
Antonio College (143 team points) and El Camino College

The Cerritos College women's track and field team broke
one school record and posted five other marks that have
placed them in the top five of the college's all-time
list at the Southern California Prelims at Mt. San
Antonio College on Friday. The Falcons have qualified 18
individuals and two relay teams for the Southern
California Championships, which will take place at Mt.

04.29.11 - Priscilla Gardner wins three SCC
championships
Freshman thrower Priscilla Gardner (Mission
Viejo HS) came in first place in three events at the
South Coast Conference Championships on Friday at Mt.
San Antonio College. She picked up wins in the discus,
hammer and shot put to help the Falcons finish in second
place with 164 team points. The host Mounties won the
conference title with 276.5 team points. The top six
finishers from each event, along with alternates and
automatic qualifiers now advance to the Southern
California Prelims, which will be held at Mt. San
Antonio on Friday.
Gardner won the discus with a distance of 157' 9", while
her throw of 142' 3" was good enough to win the hammer.
She capped off her day with a toss of 44' to win the
shot put. The Falcons won two other events on the day,
as sophomore hurdler
Brandi Gerardo (Alhambra HS/East Los Angeles College) posted the third fastest time in school history in the 400-meter IH with a time of 1:01.84 and also ran a leg of the 1600-meter relay that came in second place in 3:53.10. Sophomore
Sandra Flores (El Rancho HS) won the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 12:01.23, which is the fifth fastest time in school history...[more]
04.16.11 - Cerritos sets two school records at Beach
Invitational
With
the South Coast Conference Prelims a little over a week
away, the Cerritos College women's track and field team
continued to improve, as they set two school records and
posted the fifth best time in another event at the Beach
Invitational on Saturday. The Falcons, who are one of
the top ranked teams in the state, saw sophomore
Cora Radley
(J.W. North HS/Los Angeles Southwest College)
have one of the better days of all the athletes. She set
a new school record in the 400 meters at 54.59, which as
good for fourth place in the event. She broke the old
mark of 54.78 by Vernecia Smith that has stood
since 1981. Radley was only best by runners from
four-year schools.
In the 200 meters, Radley took ninth in the race, but her time of 24.50 is the fifth fastest time in school history. She continues to close in on the school mark of 23.91, which was set by April Brown in 2003. In the discus, freshman Priscilla Gardner (Esperanza HS) broke the school she set earlier in the year by launching a throw that went 165' 3", which is three inches farther that her previous best. With
some of the top athletes at the Mt. San Antonio Relays
over the weekend, the Cerritos College women's track and
field team used that opportunity to turn in some of the
best results in school history. The Falcons, who are
ranked #4 in the state, had four of their top-five
results turned in, with sophomore hurdler

04.02.11 - Several top times turned in at American River
For the Cerritos College women's track and field team,
the opportunity to compete at the American River
Invitational may prove to be very beneficial. The site
is the location of the state championships produced some
outstanding results for the Falcons, who won three
events, also came in second place in five others and
third in three more. Additionally, three individuals set
times in the school's top five record books. The team

Invitational
Getting
a chance to face four-year competition at the highest
level, the Cerritos College women's track and field team
sent four athletes to race in the Stanford Invitational
on Saturday. Sophomore

the lone athlete to run in two events, as she competed
in the 200 meters and 400 meters, while sophomores

03.25.11 - Cerritos dominates field events at Santa
Barbara
The Cerritos College women's track and field team has
long been one of the best in the state in the field
events, and it's their depth that is the main reason
why. The Falcons, who competed in the Easter Relays at
Santa Barbara City College on Friday, won three field
events, finished second in five of them and third in
three. In addition, Cerritos also won three relay races
and took second in another. The team will now travel to
Sacramento next Saturday for the American River
Invitational, which will also be the location of the

03.18.11 - Falcons show strength at
California Relays
Hosting
the California Relays on Friday afternoon, the Cerritos
College women's track and field team went on to win
three events, while they placed second in seven more
events. The Falcons turned in several strong times and
distances in one of the biggest invitationals of the
year. Cerritos will now split their team up a bit to
send them to a pair of events this weekend, as some will
go to the Easter Relays at Santa Barbara City College,
while others will go to the Stanford Invitational.
Winning the 400-meter race was sophomore
Cora Radley (J.W. North HS/Los Angeles Southwest College) with a time of 55.15, while sophomore
Ashley Pearson (Morningside HS) was a winner in an individual race, as well as in a relay race. Pearson captured the 400-meter IH in a time of 1:05.57, while she teamed with sophomores

Northridge
Cerritos College sophomore hurdler
Brandi
Gerardo (Alhambra HS/East Los Angeles College)
has quickly become a serious contender to vie for the
state championship in the hurdles. She led the Falcon
women's track and field team at the Northridge
Invitational by turning in a time of 1:03.29 to finish
fifth overall against four-year competition in the
400-meter intermediate hurdles. The time was also the
fourth fastest in school history, with the mark of
1:01.15 set by Yasmin Webb in 2008. The team will
now host the California Relays from Wednesday through

03.04.11 - Cerritos wins 14 events at
Compton Invitational
With
five teams from the South Coast Conference taking part
in the Compton Invitational, the Cerritos College women'
track and field team showed their strengths, as they won
14 of the events to lead the way. A single
Falcon competitor was the only entry in three of the
events, which helped add to the total. Additionally, two
distance runners represented the school at the Ben Brown
Invitational at Cal State Fullerton on Saturday. The
team will now compete in the Northridge Invitational

02.26.11 - Team combine for second
place
Taking a break from their outdoor
schedule, the Cerritos College women's track and field
team traveled north to compete in the California
Community College Indoor Championships at the Save Mart
Center in Fresno on Friday. Both the women's and men's
teams combined for 198 points to come in second place
out of the five teams that competed in the meet. The
Falcons won four women's events to help compile their
team points, with South Coast Conference rival Mt. San
Antonio College winning the combined event with 238 team
points. The team will now compete in a conference meet

Cerritos Invitational
The Cerritos College women's track and field team picked
up a pair of first place and second place finishes, as
well as three third place finishes at the Cerritos
Invitational over the weekend. The Falcons, who opened
the season ranked #4 in the state, will now travel to

meet
The
Cerritos College women's track and field team has been
one of the state's elite for quite some time now and the
2011 squad is no different. The Falcons, who missed out
on winning their third straight state championship last
year when they finished in a tie for third place, open
the season ranked #4 in the state. They made a strong
point to move up in the rankings after finishing first
place in five events, including both relay events.
Cerritos will now host the Cerritos Invitational, which
