11.13.09 - Falcons upset by Long Beach in playoffs
The Cerritos College women's water
polo team saw their post-season ended abruptly on Friday
when they were eliminated from the Southern California
Regional Playoffs by Long Beach City College. The
Falcons, who entered the playoffs as the #2-seeded team,
were also the defending state champions and were riding
a 22-match winning streak. The Vikings, who escaped
their first round match against Ventura College with a
one-goal win, posted a 5-3 score against Cerritos, who

Both the Cerritos College men's and
women's water polo teams will be taking part in the
Southern California Regional Playoffs, which will begin
on Thursday at Pasadena City College. The top three
teams from the playoffs will advance to the state
championships, which will be played next week at Golden

11.07.09 - Cerritos wins second straight conference
title
For the second year in a row, the Cerritos College
women's water polo team captured the South Coast
Conference championship. The Falcons (29-1), ranked #1
in the state and the defending state champions, recorded
wins over Los Angeles Trade-Tech College (16-0) and Mt.
San Antonio College (15-5) in the first two rounds on
Thursday. Cerritos then defeated host Chaffey College,
8-6 in the championship game on Saturday. The Panthers
defeated second place Long Beach City College in
the semi-finals to earn a trip to the finals against the
Falcons. Cerritos will now enter the Southern California
Regional Playoffs, which start on Wednesday at Pasadena

10.28.09 - Falcons dominate Pasadena City, 14-3
The Cerritos College women's water
polo team opened up a 5-0 first quarter lead and
increased that to 10-1 at halftime against Pasadena City
College on Wednesday afternoon at the Falcon Aquatic
Center, en route to a 14-3 South Coast Conference
victory. The win was the 19th in a row for the #2-ranked
team in the state and defending state champions, while
the Lancers fell to 8-15 overall and 3-4 in the SCC. The
win also marks the second straight conference
championship for Cerritos (26-1, 7-0), who will enter
the conference tournament as the top-seeded team on

10.21.09 - Cerritos defeats Long Beach in a tight affair
With both teams playing tight defense
and a large crowd on hand, it was apparent that each
goal would loom large in a battle of two of the state's
top four teams. However, the Cerritos College women's
water polo team did what they needed to in order to hold
off rival Long Beach City College in a South Coast
Conference match at the Falcon Aquatic Center on
Wednesday afternoon with a 6-4 victory. The win also
kicked off a day of celebration, as the college held
their dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony later in
the day.
The victory by the Falcons was their 19th in a row for
the defending state champions, who improved to 25-1
overall and 6-0 in conference action. The fourth-ranked
Vikings fell to 18-3 and 5-1. Cerritos will now host
Pasadena City College next Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. in

10.17.09 - Wins keep coming as Falcons capture fourth
title
The Cerritos College women's water
polo team won their fourth tournament championship of
the season, as they swept four opponents at the Citrus
Tournament over the weekend. The Falcons improved their
winning streak to 17 matches in a row and are now 24-1
on the season. They posted wins over the host Owls
(15-4) and Rio Hondo College, 15-0 on the first day and
followed that with wins over Chaffey College (18-8) and
Orange Coast College, 9-4 to win the tournament title.
The team will now host rival Long Beach City College at
3:00 p.m. on Wednesday in a rematch of the state
championship game from last year. Cerritos won their
first state championship by beating the Vikings,

10.14.09 - Falcons post shutout against LA Trade-Tech
The Cerritos College women's water
polo team not only won their 13th match in a row on
Wednesday, but they posted their first shutout of the
year with an 18-0 South Coast Conference win over Los
Angeles Trade-Tech College at the Cerritos Aquatic
Center. The Falcons (20-1 overall, 5-0 SCC), ranked
third in the state and the defending state champions,
will now compete in the Citrus Tournament this
weekend.
In the win over the Monarchs, 10 different players
scored for Cerritos, who opened up a quick 5-0 lead in
the first quarter and spent the remainder of the game
working on their offense and passing against a much

10.10.09 - Cerritos wins third tournament of the year
With four straight wins at the
Pasadena City Tournament over the weekend, the Cerritos
College women's water polo team won their third
tournament of the season and extended their winning
streak to 12 matches in a row. The Falcons, the
defending state champions, are now 19-1 on the year and
will resume South Coast Conference action on Wednesday
at 3:00 p.m. when they host Los Angeles Trade-Tech

10.07.09 - Falcons beat Mt. San Antonio for eighth
straight win
On the strength of their 12-4 South
Coast Conference win at Mt. San Antonio College on
Wednesday afternoon, the Cerritos College women's water
polo team improved to 15-1 overall and 4-0 in conference
play. The Falcons, the defending state champions and
ranked #2 in the state, will now compete in the Pasadena

10.03.09 - Team sweeps four opponents to win
tournament
The Cerritos College women's water
polo team defeated four opponents over the weekend at
the San Diego Mesa Tournament to claim the championship.
The Falcons (14-1) posted wins over Southwestern College
(14-2), Ventura College (17-4), Chaffey College (13-6)
and the host Olympians, 15-8 to run their winning streak
to seven matches in a row. The team will now travel to
Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday for a 3:00 p.m.

09.30.09 - Cerritos breaks open close game for 13-6
win
Although they never trailed in the
match, the Cerritos College women's water polo team had
their hands full against Chaffey College in a South
Coast Conference road match on Wednesday. The Falcons,
who led 2-1 after the first quarter and 4-3 in the
second, broke the game open by scoring seven straight
goals to post a 13-6 victory. Cerritos (10-1 overall,
3-0 SCC), the defending state champions, will now
compete in the San Diego Mesa Tournament over the

09.23.09 - Falcons improve to 2-0 in SCC with win
The Cerritos College women's water
polo team opened up an early 6-0 lead in their South
Coast Conference match at El Camino College on Wednesday
and never looked back. The Falcons went on to record a
16-4 win which improves their season record to 9-1 and
2-0 in conference play. Cerritos will now travel to
Chaffey College for another conference match next

09.19.09 - Cerritos wins three of four at Chaffey
Tournament
Many believe that last year's women's
water polo state tournament semi-final game between
Cerritos College and Riverside College was worthy of a
state championship game. The Falcons, who pulled out a
12-11 victory and went on to win their first state
championship in school history, squared off against the
Tigers for the first time since that contest. In the
third game of the Chaffey Tournament on Saturday, the
outcome was not what Cerritos had hoped, as they dropped
a 7-6 decision in a game that had the intensity of a
state tournament match. However, the Falcons win did

The Cerritos College women's water
polo team opened South Coast Conference on Wednesday
with a convincing 19-2 win at Rio Hondo College. The
Falcons, the defending state champions, improved to 5-0
on the year. They will now enter the Chaffey Tournament,

09.12.09 - Defending champs open season with
tournament title
The Cerritos College women's water
polo team, coming off their first state championship in
school history, opened the 2009 season by sweeping four
opponents at the Central Coast Tournament in Cuesta over
the weekend. The Falcons (4-0) were crowned the
champions of the tournament and had just one game where
they were challenged. After opening with a 19-1 win over
Santa Monica College, they followed that with a 16-11
victory over Foothill College. On the second day,
Cerritos disposed of both Cabrillo College (18-1) and
the host Cougars by a score of 22-8. The team will now
open South Coast Conference play on Wednesday when they
travel to Rio Hondo College for a 3:00 p.m. match...[more]
