magical year for Falcons
Playing in their first Southern
California Regional Playoff game in school history, the
Cerritos College women's water polo team got a taste of
what it's like to be the hunted. The Falcons (28-3),
seeded #2 in the regionals, suffered a 9-6 loss to
#7-seeded Golden West College Friday afternoon at
Cypress College and were eliminated from the playoffs.
Cerritos set new school record for most wins in a season
(28), while they won their first South Coast Conference
championship. The Rustlers (17-12) will now face Long

playoffs; Will play on Friday afternoon
After completing their most successful
season in school history, the Cerritos College women's
water polo team will now embark on the post-season, as
they prepare for the Southern California Regional
Playoffs. The Falcons, 28-2 on the season, were seeded
#2 and will receive a first round bye. They will play
the winner of the #7-seeded Golden West
College-#10-seeded Orange Coast College game on Friday
at 5:45 p.m. at Cypress College. The Rustlers and

Beach gives Falcons first championship
The Cerritos College women's water polo
team captured their first South Coast Conference
Tournament championship in school history after a
stunning 9-4 win over cross-town rival Long Beach City
on Saturday. The Falcons swept through Rio Hondo College
(18-0) and Chaffey College (10-8) on Friday to put them
in the championship game against the state #2-rated
Vikings. In their first meeting of the season, LB City
posted a 10-5 win against Cerritos, handing them one of
their two losses this season. With the three wins,
Cerritos is now 28-2 on the season and could be seeded
as high as #2 in the Southern California Regional
Playoffs, which get underway on Wednesday. It will be
determined who the Falcons play and at what time when

10.25.06 - Team holds off Chaffey for
second place in SCC
With second place in the South Coast
Conference at stake, the Cerritos College women's water
polo team was able to withstand every challenge by
Chaffey College and recorded an 18-15 win at Cerritos on
Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Falcons, rated #4
in the state, finish at 6-1 in the SCC and 25-2 overall,
while the Panthers, rated #3 in the state, drop to 5-2
in the SCC and 24-5 overall. Cerritos also kept their
school-record winning streak alive, now at 16 in a row,
while they will wait until November 2-4 to compete in
the conference tournament, which will be held at
Pasadena City College. With their second place standing
in the conference, the Falcons will be the #2-seeded

10.18.06 - Cerritos keeps winning
streak alive with 16-3 win over El Camino
The Cerritos College women's water polo
team ran their school-record winning streak to 15 games
after posting a 16-3 South Coast Conference victory over
El Camino College on Wednesday afternoon in the Cerritos
pool. With the win, the Falcons, ranked #4 in the state,
are now 23-3 on the year and are 5-1 in conference play.
Next Wednesday, the Falcons host Chaffey College at 4:15
p.m. with the winner securing second place in the

10.16.06 - Team wins fourth tournament
of year and sets new record
The Cerritos College women's water polo
team continued their magical season, as they won their
fourth tournament of the season, and with their four
wins at the Citrus Tournament, have now won 14
consecutive games. The Falcons, ranked #4 in the state,
are now 22-2 on the season, which sets a new school
record for most wins in a year. They established the old
record of 21 last season under first-year head coach
Sergio Macias.
The team will resume South Coast Conference play on
Wednesday when they play host to El Camino College for a

10th win in a row with 18-1 score
Four different players scored two goals
each to help lead the state's #4-rated Cerritos College
women's water polo team to a convincing 18-1 South Coast
Conference victory on Wednesday afternoon against Rio
Hondo College. With the win, their 10th in a row, the
Falcons are now 18-2 on the season and 4-1 in conference
action. They will now look to extend their school-record
winning streak at the Citrus Tournament, which runs this

tournament of the season at Pasadena Bowl
The Cerritos College women's water polo
team swept through their four opponents at the Pasadena
Bowl this past weekend to win their third championship
of the season and extended their winning streak to nine
games. With the four wins, the Falcons are now 17-2
overall and resume South Coast Conference action on
Wednesday when they host Rio Hondo College in a 4:15

10.05.06 - Team continues to score big
in 17-1 win over Pasadena
A trio of Cerritos College women's water
polo players scored three goals each to help lead the
Falcons to a 17-1 South Coast Conference victory at
Pasadena City College on Wednesday afternoon. With the
win, the Falcons are now 13-2 overall and have won five
games in a row, while they are 3-1 in conference action.
Cerritos will return to Pasadena for the Pasadena Bowl

10.02.06 - Cerritos sweeps four teams
to win second tournament of the year
The Cerritos College women's water polo
team got right back into their winning ways after
dropping a South Coast Conference games against Long
Beach City College last week. The Falcons, competing in
the San Diego Mesa Tournament, swept through all four
teams they faced to win their second tournament
championship of the year. Earlier in the season, they
won the Cuesta Tournament. Cerritos (13-2) opened with
their second shutout in school history, as they blanked
Santa Monica College, 20-0 and then followed it with a
12-5 victory over Grossmont College. The Falcons came
back the next day and squeaked out a 13-12 win over
Fullerton College, who is ranked #5 in the state and
beat Cerritos twice last season. In the championship
game, Cerritos exacted more revenge, as they made quick
work of the host Olympians, with an 11-4 win. Last

09.28.06 - Falcons suffer loss at the
hands of Long Beach
Facing the #2-rated team in the state is
one thing, but to have them in your conference is
another. The Cerritos College women's water polo team
who are ranked #3 in the state, squared off against
cross-town rival and #2-rated Long Beach City College in
a South Coast Conference match on Wednesday with the
winner having the inside track on the conference title.
The Falcons stayed close for the first two quarters, but
a 4-0 third quarter for the Vikings propelled them to a
10-5 victory. The loss dropped Cerritos to 9-2 on the
season and 2-1 in conference play, while Long Beach
improved to 10-1 overall and 3-0 in the SCC. The only
other loss for the Falcons was against Riverside
College, who is ranked #1 in the state and is the
defending state champion. Cerritos will now compete in
the San Diego Mesa Tournament, which will be held on

09.21.06 - Cerritos puts up big
numbers in win over LA Trade-Tech
The Cerritos College women's water polo
team raced out to a 13-0 halftime lead in their South
Coast Conference match at Los Angeles Trade-Tech on
Wednesday and went on to post a 20-2 victory. The win
improved the Falcons season record to 9-1 and 2-0 in the
SCC and it sets up a showdown with powerful cross-town
rival Long Beach City College next Wednesday at 4:15 p.m...[more]
09.18.06 - Cerritos suffers first loss
of season and place third in tourney
The Cerritos College women's water polo
team found out firsthand why Riverside College is the
defending state champion and current top-rated team in
the state when they faced them in the semi-finals of the
Chaffey Tournament this past weekend. The Falcons, off
to their best start in school history at 7-0 after early
wins over Golden West and Santa Ana in the tournament,
dropped their first game of the season, as the Tigers
posted a 9-2 victory, which was their 34th consecutive
win. However, Cerritos did respond with a 16-8 win over
American River College to take third place in the
tournament. The Falcons (8-1) will now return to South
Coast Conference action, as they travel to Los Angeles
Trade-Tech College for a 4:15 match on Wednesday...[more]
09.15.06 - Cerritos continues to win;
has date with Riverside
In their toughest test of the early
season, the Cerritos College women's water polo team has
already passed the early stages, as they recorded two
wins at the Chaffey Tournament on Thursday. The Falcons,
ranked #4 in the state, solidified that spot with a 10-9
sudden death victory over Golden West College, followed
by an 18-12 triumph over Santa Ana College. Cerritos
(7-0), off to their best start in school history, will
square off against Riverside College, the defending
state champion and top-rated team in the state, on
Saturday. Heading into the tournament, the Tigers were

09.13.06 - Cerritos remains undefeated
after conference victory
The Cerritos College women's water polo
team continued their record-breaking start to the
season, as they registered a 16-9 South Coast Conference
win at home against Mt. San Antonio College on Wednesday
afternoon. The win kept the Falcons, who are ranked #4
in the state, undefeated on the year at 5-0, while they
are 1-0 in SCC play. The team will get a chance to see
the top two-rated teams in the state this weekend
(Riverside and Long Beach City), as they compete in the

09.11.06 - Cerritos wins first
tournament championship in school history
For the first time in school history, the
Cerritos College women's water polo team won a
tournament championship, as the Falcons defeated four
teams to capture the title at the Cuesta Tournament over
the weekend. The Falcons (4-0) entered the tournament
ranked #8 in the state and will likely move up in the
rankings. This Wednesday, they will host Mt. San Antonio
College at 4:15 p.m. in their South Coast Conference
