The Cerritos College women's water polo team got right back into their winning ways after dropping a South Coast Conference games against Long Beach City College last week. The Falcons, competing in the San Diego Mesa Tournament, swept through all four teams they faced to win their second tournament championship of the year. Earlier in the season, they won the Cuesta Tournament. Cerritos (13-2) opened with their second shutout in school history, as they blanked Santa Monica College, 20-0 and then followed it with a 12-5 victory over Grossmont College. The Falcons came back the next day and squeaked out a 13-12 win over Fullerton College, who is ranked #5 in the state and beat Cerritos twice last season. In the championship game, Cerritos exacted more revenge, as they made quick work of the host Olympians, with an 11-4 win. Last season, San Diego Mesa beat the Falcons.

The defense helped create the majority of their scoring opportunities, as the Falcons posted 26 steals, with Badali and freshman Kimberly Diaz (Bell Gardens HS) finishing with six and five steals, respectively.

Freshman Jeannette Diaz (Bell Gardens HS) got back to her scoring streak, as she accounted for five goals in the win over Grossmont, with sophomore Berlyn Sanchez (El Rancho HS) and freshman Grace Quintana (Montebello HS) both adding two goals. The defense continued to be the key to the win, with sophomore Christina Edwards (El Rancho HS) accounting for six of the team's 18 steals. In goal, sophomore Barbie Diaz (Bell Gardens HS) made five saves, while sophomore Sarah Kenny (La Habra HS) finished with four.

In the hard-fought win over Fullerton, the Falcon put a barrage of shots on the Hornet goal, with Sanchez scoring four goals in her five shots, with the team finished with 27 shots. Grace Quintana and Jeannette Diaz (three assists) each scored three times in the win, while Barbie Diaz and Kenny combined for five saves. In closing out the championship, Jeannette Diaz led the way with four goals in the win over San Diego Mea, while Kenny had seven saves and Barbie Diaz chipped in with five stops.
