women's

polo
team
found
out who
they
will be
facing
in the
state
championship
game at
Merced
College
at noon
on
Saturday
- and
it's no
stranger.
The
Falcons
(30-3),
who
defeated
both
American
River
College
(8-4)
and
top-seeded
Riverside
Community
College
(12-11)
on
Thursday
to win
their
bracket
and
advance
to the
championship
game,
will
face
cross-town
rival
Long
Beach
City
College
in the
finals.
The
Vikings
defeated
Sierra
College
(8-7) on
Thursday
and then
outlasted
Santa
Rosa
College,
8-7 in a
match
that was
extended
to two
sudden
death
overtimes
on
Friday.
It will
mark the
fourth
time
Cerritos
and Long
Beach
City
(26-7)
will
face
each
other
this
season.
After
winning
the
first
two
meetings,
the
Falcons,
ranked
32 in
the state, were
defeated
by the
Vikings,
8-7 in
the
semi-finals
of the
Southern
California
Regional
Playoffs
last
weekend.
Cerritos
won,
13-7 in
their
South
Coast
Conference
regular
season
game and
then
posted
an 8-7
win in
the
championship
game of
the
conference
tournament.
The trip
to the
state
championship
game is
the
first-ever
for
Cerritos,
while
the
Vikings,
ranked
#3 in
the
state, have
won the
state
championship
in 2003,
2004 and
2006.
