The Cerritos
College
women's
water polo
team moved
one away
from tying
their school
record for
most wins in
a row with
their 18th
in a 15-4
South Coast
Conference
victory at
Pasadena
City College
on Wednesday
afternoon.
The Falcons
(23-3
overall, 5-0
SCC), ranked
#2 in the
state, won
19 in a row
during the
2006 season.
They will
look to tie
that record
next
Wednesday at
4:15 p.m.
when they
host Rio
Hondo
College in
their
conference
finale. A
win will
also give
the team an
undefeated
SCC record
heading into
the
conference
tournament
and a first
round bye.
Cerritos opened a 6-1 lead after the first quarter and
extended
their lead
to 10-2 by
halftime,
thanks in
part to
three goals
from
freshman
Natalie Peng
(Cerritos
HS). By
the end of
the game, 11
different
Falcons
scored on
the day,
with
sophomore
Stephanie
Rosero
(Downey
HS) and
Sabrina
Boling
(El
Rancho HS)
each
accounting
for two
apiece.
The freshman goalkeeping tandem of
Miranda
Bakke
(Gahr HS)
and
Mandy Perez
(Montebello
HS)
each allowed
two goals in
their half
of play,
with Bakke
making five
saves.
