The newest member of the
Cerritos College women’s water polo coaching
staff is Sofia Patronas, who recently
completed her collegiate career as a
four-year starter for UC Davis. In her time
with the Aggies as an attacker, Patronas led
the Aggies with 42 assists her senior year,
while adding 12 goals. She scored 13 goals
as a junior and sophomore, while playing
every game her freshman year. While at
Downey High, Patronas was a NISCA 3rd
Team All-American as a senior, while she was
also named the CIF Player of the Year and
San Gabriel Valley league Most Valuable
Player. To cap off her senior year, the
Vikings won the CIF Division VI championship
and finished with a 24-7 record, while she
was also named the school’s Female Athlete
of the Year.
In addition to her success in water polo,
Patronas also advanced to the CIF
Championships in the 100-yard butterfly
three times and set a school record. She won
five league titles, three in the 100-yard
butterfly and two in the 200-yard IM, while
she was a four-year Scholar-Athlete.
Patronas graduated from UC Davis with a
degree in Spanish, while she also speaks
some Greek. Patronas is single and lives in
Downey. |
