Attended Golden West College but did not
participate in sports… Spent four years on the wrestling
team…. As a senior, he posted a 48-6 record and placed
fifth in the state championships… Also came on second
place at the Masters Meet after winning the CIF and
Empire League championship… Named 1st Team
All-Orange County and was voted his team’s Most Valuable
Player… Placed third in the CIF Championships as a
junior and won the league title… Named his school’s
Sophomore of the Year and placed sixth in the CIF
Championships that season… As a freshman, he placed
second in the league championships… Most memorable
moments were when he reached the semi-finals of the
state championships and when he recorded an 18-1
technical fall win in the CIF championship match… Is
working on a minor in graphic arts and would like to
transfer to Arizona State University, UC Davis or Cal
State Fullerton… Has two cousins who wrestled at Marina
High and another who is currently wrestling at Loara
High… Nicknamed “Tony”… Has three siblings – Christian
(13), Adrian (11) and Angel (9)… Is the son of Stephen
and Rachael Ruiz… Born in Fountain Valley, CA on
September 15, 1987….. |
