Caleb Gerl
(Calvary Chapel HS) led a group of six
Cerritos College wrestlers to earn All-South Coast
Conference recognition, as he was named the
conference's Athlete of the Year. Gerl, who finished
second in the state championships, helped the
Falcons to a second place finish in conference
action and a fourth place finish at the state
championships. He also won the Southern California
championship.
Sophomore
Mike
Koehnlein (Marina HS), who won
the state championship and Southern California title
at 141 pounds, was named 1st Team, as was sophomore
285-pound sophomore
Juan
Enriquez (John Glenn HS), who
also placed second at the state championships and in
the Southern California Championships. Joining them
on the 1st Team was sophomore
Adam Hase (Long
Beach Millikan HS), who advanced to the state
tournament but was eliminated after two matches.
Named to the 2nd
Team were sophomore
Ryan
Richards (El Segundo HS) at 133
pounds and freshman Eric Sauvageau
(Loara HS) at 157 pounds. Sauvageau
finished in fourth place at the state championships
after coming in third place at the Southern
California Championships, while Richards did not
compete in the post-season.
