In their first
dual matches of the season, the Cerritos College
wrestling team showed all involved that they are a
team to be reckoned with throughout the year. The
Falcons, who came in second place in their
tournament last weekend, defeated four opponents to
win the Mt. San Antonio Dual Meet Tournament
championship. Cerritos (4-0) made quick work of both
Rio Hondo College (31-16) and Moorpark College
(42-9) in their bracket. They then followed with a
win over West Hills College (38-13) and rounded out
the tournament with a 26-10 win over Santa Ana, who
was also unbeaten heading into the final match. The
team will now travel to the Modesto Tournament,
which starts at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
In the clinching
win over Santa Ana, the Falcons opened by winning
the first three matches, with 125-pound

and Koehnlein each received forfeit wins, while Gerl
(16-1) and Enriquez (6-0) also posted victories.
The tournament
opened with a trio of pins by the Falcons to help
them to defeat Rio Hondo. Giovenco pinned his
opponent in 1:42 at 133 pounds, while freshman

just 55 seconds to post his pin at 149 pounds. Hase
eclipsed that time, with his pin taking only 44
seconds at 184 pounds. Freshman

an 11-2 win at 141 pounds, with Enriquez winning,
3-0. Sophomore

The Falcons made
quick work of Moorpark, even though Holliday was

pinned his opponent in 1:57, restored order for
Cerritos. Freshman
