Cerritos (2008): Named All-American after placing third in the state championships at 133 pounds… Posted a 23-6 record on the year… Reached the semi-finals after winning his first match and receiving a bye in the first round… Was defeated by eventual champion Todd Wilcox of Sierra College, 8-6… Rebounded and won his next two matches, including a 12-9 win over Derek Ellis of Shasta College for third place… Came in second place at the Southern California Championships… Dropped a 4-1 decision to Gabe Aguilar of Santa Ana College in the championship match… Won the championship of the Cerritos Tournament and defeated two teammates, including Ryan Richards (fall) in the finals… Reached the championships of the Santa Ana Tournament, but was defeated by Justin Lockling of Sacramento City College in the finals… Came in third place at the Modesto Tournament and posted a 5-1 record along the way… Placed third at the Cuesta Tournament and sixth at the West Valley Tournament…..

North Torrance HS: Helped his team win the CIF Championship and the Pioneer League championship as a senior… Placed fifth at the 5-Counties Tournament, while he was a runner-up at the CIF Championships… Posted a 45-4 record his senior year… Team also was the runner-up for the CIF Team Dual Meet championships two years in a row… Was a CIF state qualifier as a junior and sophomore, while he advanced to the state tournament as a junior… Was coached by current Falcon head coach Don Garriott…..

Personal: Most memorable moment was when he placed in the 5 Counties Tournament… Likes to hang out with friends, ride dirt bikes, surfing and skating in his spare time… Has two siblings – Jeffrey (14) and Julia (8)… Is the son of Frank and Lori Giovenco… Born in Torrance, on May 29, 1990…..
