Cerritos Wrestling (2009):
Won the state championship at 285 pounds and
earned All-American honors… Posted a 5-2 win
over Fresno City College’s Austin Garza to win
the title, which was their third meeting of the
season… Became the fifth heavyweight in college
history to win the state championship… Posted a
33-4 record on the year… Also won the Southern
California Championship, as well as winning the
Cerritos Open and Modesto Tournament… Came in
second place in the Santa Ana Tournament, West
Valley Tournament and Mike Clock Open…..
John Glenn HS:
Placed fourth at the National Championships in
Virginia as a senior after finishing third at
the state championships… Also won the Masters
championship, CIF championship and Suburban
League championship… Posted a 57-1 record with
46 pins his senior season… Was voted the Most
Valuable Player for the CIF championships and in
the league… Was the league’s MVP as a junior, as
well as winning the CIF championship and placed
fifth at the state championship… Posted a 37-7
record his junior season, while recording a
combined 80-2 record on the junior varsity team
his sophomore and freshman seasons… Also spent
four years on the football team…..
Personal:
Most memorable moment was winning his first CIF
championship… Aspires to be a police officer…
Likes to work on his car in his spare time… His
younger brother Victor (18) will wrestle at East
Los Angeles College this season… Has two other
siblings – Adrian and Whitney… Nicknamed “Jr.”…
Is the son of Jose Lopez and Kim Mayner… Born in
Dinwiddie, VA….. |
