The Arts have always had the unfortunate stereotype of the "starving artist" stigma associated with it.  The romantic notion of the disgruntled introverted painter, painting tirelessly through the night, fingers and clothing stained with paint, smelling of turpentine and mineral spirits, slaving away over a canvas to sell to a patron to fund their next project. We reject this notion and implore you to look at the Art career through a 21st century lens. The Cerritos College Fine Arts and Communications Department will explore the new idea of art careers, how changing technology, social media, and the advent of the internet have redefined Art as a viable career option for students and how Cerritos College can help engage potential students in finding their voice and a career in the arts that suit their talents.
