This class is an overview
of
Astrobiology!
In Astronomy 104 we cover
everything from the beginning of time and the creation of galaxies,
stars, and planet, to the origins of life on Earth and our search for
life elsewhere.
If you've ever had a general interest in the origins of life and
want to be able to explore questions such as "What is life?" or "Are
we alone in the Universe?" or "Could we really communicate
with aliens?" then this is the class for you. This course
may be used for transfer.
There is only one method for receiving extra credit in this class
and it requires consistent work on astronomy lecture material
through the semester. To receive extra credit, you will need to
spend a minimum of one hour every two weeks in my office hours working
on astronomy lecture material throughout the entire semester. If
you complete this, you will receive an extra 5% on your final course grade.
If
you miss any two week period or do not complete an entire hour in the
designated two week period, you get nothing.
You will receive an extra
3% on top of the other 5% (for a total of 8%) if, after the first four weeks,
you meet with your group during office hours. The two week sections are:
