The Fall 2001 Zzyzx Field Trip is planned for September 15 and 16, 2001!
Cost is $33 per student.
Checks may be made out to the Desert Studies Center
Place cash or check in a sealed envelope with your full name, class, and the date and time you are giving in to your astronomy teacher.
It looks like we will be able to take 53 students.
The list is first come, first serve. Names of those verified to attend the trip are posted here. All monies and reservations will be submitted to the Desert Studies Center by September 1, 2001. There will be no refunds after this point.
If you have already been on this field trip, you can still go again! You must be in an astronomy class during the semester of the trip, or you must be a member of the Astronomy Club.

TRIP SPECIFICS
DEPARTURE: September 15, 2001 at noon
RETURN: September 16, 2001 at noon
LOCATION: Parking Lot C-10
TRANSPORTATION: We will be providing a bus that will depart from and return to Cerritos College. All students must ride the bus.
YOU SHOULD BRING:
Bedding (sleeping bag or blankets and pillow)
Appropriate Clothing (including a jacket)
Notebook and writing implements (you may wish to bring a clipboard)
A Flashlight with transparent RED film over the light.
Things to do on the bus. (It will be a 3 hour drive each way.)
Any small snacks you will want. (Do NOT bring a cooler.)
PLEASE PACK LIGHT! We have a lot of people and equipment (telescopes) and limited space.
YOU WILL BE PROVIDED WITH:
A bunk bed in a dorm room (students will be separated by gender)
Use of the dining hall, bathrooms and showers.
Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast.
The Extra Credit Assignment
The use of Cerritos College equipment (telescopes)
MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION:
The bus ride is long. If you have a problem with motion sickness, you may wish to investigate preventative measures.
There is a bathroom on the bus.
There is a VCR and monitors on the bus. We will show at least one movie. (Not sure what yet.)
There will be no trips to grocery stores or other places.
There is a small gift shop/souvenir store at Zzyzx.
Many people like to take pictures at Zzyzx. The scenery can be spectacular.
We will be up very late! Sleep well the night before!
Some cell phones still have a signal at Zzyzx.
Students will not be allowed to leave the Zzyzx area.

In order to receive Extra Credit in your class you will have to attend and complete an assignment at Zzyzx.
