Pay close attention to the annotated sample from King's, "Letter from Birmingham Jail."  You'll see how the writer summarizes and evaluates, which will help you with your Position Paper.

Chapters 21 and 22, Research and Using Sources

While you need not read every word of these chapters, review them so you know how to find research material and how to cite and acknowledge your sources using the Modern Language Association (MLA) format.  

  • Check pages 772-9 to see a perfectly formatted sample of a research paper.  This is how yours should look.

  • Also, be sure to take advantage of Cerritos College's My Library, a data base that you access to the full texts of articles.  Check the site to see how to set up access to the service.  

  • You can check also my abbreviated notes on the MLA at Using and Acknowledging Sources.
