RUNNING FOR THE 2007 USATF MASTERS 100K TEAM

WMA will organize the 4th WMA World Masters Athletics Championships 100K in Winschoten, Netherlands on September 8, 2007. The WMA 100K championship is held in conjunction with the IAU (International Association of Ultrarunners) 100K World Cup under the patronage of IAAF (International Association of Athletics Federations).

USATF encourages American masters ultrarunners to compete for world age-group recognition at this venue and to provide a broad US masters presence at this world championship. At the last WMA 100K championship in 2005 in Argentina, the USATF Masters 100K Team assisted in bringing home 9 medals including the individual gold in the men’s and women race.

The USATF Masters 100K Team will compete against runners from around the world in the IAU World Cup 100K. This race includes a race for individual masters age-group runners. All masters who enter the World Cup race automatically race in the WMA 100K World Championship, a race that is a separate event run at the same time and location. For this event men’s and women's 5-year age-groups start at age 35.

How IMAF Supports the Masters 100K Team

IMAF is established to assist masters athletes who demonstrate a financial need to participate in their sport in significant ways such as competing at championship events.  IMAF, a charitable corporation headquarted in Wyoming formed to support and promote masters athletics, athletes, and teams, is a resource for 2007 USATF Masters 100K team members to help fund the expense of the WMA championships in Winschoten.  IMAF accepts tax exempt contributions from contributions who want to support your team and then distributes 100% of those contributions to team members who request support from IMAF.  Funds contributed to IMAF for the 2007 USATF Masters 100K Team will be distributed after team members participate in the world cup race.

If a USATF Masters 100K team member believe s/he needs financial assistance with expenses to travel to Winschoten and run at the WMA 100K championship and would like support from IMAF, submit a statement of need and your request for IMAF assistance to:

How You Can Help

IMAF is a fledgling non-profit organization receiving the funds it distributes to the team from sponsors and contributors.  You can help yourself and the team by soliciting team sponsors/contributors.  Distribute the enclosed sponsor solicitation to contacts you know and identify yourself as a member of the 2007 USATF Masters 100K Team, a self-funded team.  Summarize your ultrarunning accomplishments and include a stamped envelope addressed to IMAF.

You can submit to IMAF receipts for costs you incur to fund raise for the team such as the cost of stamps and envelopes and IMAF will send you a copy of IMAF’s determination letter from the IRS as proof of the tax-exempt expenses deduction on your 2007 taxes.

Good luck at the 2007 WMA 100K in Winschoten, Netherlands!
