Teva named USATF MUT Contributor of the Year 2002

USATF Mountain Ultra Trail Running Council has named Teva as its contributor of the year 2002. Nominees included UltraRunning magazine, Trail Runner magazine, Teva, and Montrail. The Council was unanimous in its support of Teva as this year's award recipient.

In 2002 Teva entered into a three-year sponsorship agreement with MUT as a title sponsor and official footwear of the national mountain running team. In 2002 the Teva US Mountain Running Team included a junior squad made possible through the financial support of Teva.

Adam Druckman, Teva sports marketing manager and Liz Ferrin, Teva promotions manager traveled to the World Mountain Running Trophy events in Austria this past September to learn more about the events and to support the athletes during the competition.  Druckman says, "Teva, inventor of the first sport sandal, has worked tirelessly for the past three years to build upon that heritage in the closed footwear category. We have consciously chosen to use endurance trail running as the proving ground for our progressive line of performance trail running shoes."

In 2003 Teva will introduce its newest shoe the Tsegi, a lighter, versatile trail running shoe to complement the Elden Trail introducedin 2002. "Teva has done much to promote the sport of trailrunning including the ultra distances, by creating and refining quality footwear for athletes. Their support of the US Mountain Running Team deserves our sincere thanks and recognition," says Lorraine Gersitz, MUT
co-chair. Druckman responds, "We are honored to support the US Mountain Running Team and will diligently continue to support this rapidly growing sport. Teva is truly delighted by the recognition of the USATF Mountain Ultra Trailrunning Sport Council as the '2002 Contributor of the Year.'"

Past recipients of the USATF MUT Contributor of the Year awards include Ultrarunners Supporting Ultrarunners in 2000 and the American Ultrarunning Association in 2001. Teva will receive their award at the USATF annual convention in Kansas City, MO on December 7 during a breakfast banquet and awards ceremony.
