
San Diego 1 Day to Host the 2003 USA 24-Hour Run Championship

The Best in Class to Compete for the National Championship in November 2003
San Diego, California -- December 17, 2002 -- San Diego 1 Day, the premier 24-hour track race for world class distance runners, today announced that the USA Track & Field (USATF) has awarded San Diego 1 Day the exclusive right to host the 24-hour ultra distance national championship for 2003. The best in class ultra distance runners worldwide will compete in San Diego, November 2003 for prize money and for the title of US national champion. Title divisions include Men's and Women's Overall, and an Open Division, broken into age groups.
The San Diego 1 Day is an ultra distance track race, in which runners cover the longest possible distance within a fixed period of time, in this case 24 hours. Many ultra runners during this 1-day race will run in excess of 100 miles and all runners will be equipped with state of the art electronic sensors installed on the their shoes to accurately count the number of laps.

"Since 1999, the San Diego 1 Day has effectively organized ultra distance races featuring impressive fields of world class runners.
