Creel and Fagan Get The Gold at Golden Headlands 50K Trail Championship

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Under near-perfect conditions 177 runners, led by Scott Creel and Mary
Fagan, crossed the finish line last Saturday at Rodeo Beach, in the
Headlands 50K.  This race hosted the USA 50K Trail Championships for the
second consecutive year.  Warmer than usual temperatures didn't prevent
Creel from setting a course record, and for the rest of the field the lack
of fog was made up for by the stunning views that had been absent last year
(Scott probably didn't have enough time to enjoy too many views).

Two clubs fielded women's teams and five clubs fielded men's teams, with
Hoy's Excelsior men transitioning from their road running successes into
victory in the ultra world, and Tamalpa women successfully defending their
2002 title.

A total of $6,500 in prize money was awarded.
