Running specialty:
Technical trail ultras. I am still searching for my best distance

Career Accomplishments: Course record for 40-mile Uwharrie Mountain Run in North Carolina (2005); Two-time winner of Mount Mitchell Challenge 40-miler in North Carolina (2004, 2005); Won Massanutten Mountain Trails 100 miler in Virginia (2004); 3rd Place in Mountain Masochist 50 miler in Lynchburg, Virginia (2004); Won Rattlesnake 50K in West Virginia (2004); Have run 26 ultramarathons (50K, 40-mile, 50-mile, 100K and 100-mile) since February 2003.

Running achievement I am most proud of: Running Uwharrie Mountain Run in under 7 hours.

Why I run: Because it is as close as I have come to feel what it must be like to fly! Šand it keeps me saneŠ (at least sane "enough!")

Future Goals: One day complete the Barkley Marathons, experience stage runs, run more 100-milers in different beautiful areas. Try rogaining! Continue adventure racing.

Favorite quote: : "Here is the test to find whether your mission on Earth is finished: If you are alive, it isn't." -Richard Bach

Additional comments/thoughts: I love the community and challenge of this sport! I have been ultrarunning for a little over two years and have learned and experienced so much and my learning curve continues with each passing event or new training idea. I was never an athlete in my younger years (high school or college) so I constantly learn from racesŠand since I work as a high school counselor, I like that our students here can see that sports can continue on as "serious leisure" even after high school!  Being a Montrail/Patagonia runner and ambassador this year is a huge honor.
