Periodical Databases

EbscoHost is an Internet resource used to access the following databases:

• MasterFILE Premier provides full-text for more than 2,000 periodicals covering general reference, business, health, education, general science, and much more. Full-text is also provided for more than 350 reference books, 84,000 biographies, 86,000 primary source documents and an Image Collection of 107,000 photos, maps and flags.

• Health Source - Consumer Edition provides a collection of consumer health information, with information on health topics in the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. Health Source - Consumer Edition features full-text for nearly 150 journals. Entries from the Merriam-Webster Medical Desk Dictionary are also included.

• Health Source Nursing/Academic Edition provides more than 550 scholarly full-text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition also features abstracts and indexing for nearly 850 journals. Entries from the Merriam-Webster Medical Desk Dictionary are also included.

• Clinical Pharmacology provides access to up-to-date, concise and clinically relevant drug monographs for all U.S. prescription drugs, patient education fact sheets, hard-to-find herbal and nutritional supplements, over-the-counter products and new drugs. Patient education records are available in English and Spanish.

• Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts Library provides Information Science & Technology Abstract (LISTA) indexes to more than 600 periodicals, books, research reports and proceedings. Subject coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more. Coverage in the database extends back as far as the mid-1960s.top>>

NewsBank InfoWeb is a resource used to access full-text newspapers. The Newsfile Collection provides indexing and full-text to more than 500 U.S. regional and national newswires and newspapers.  top>>

Project MUSE: Arts and Humanities Collection provides online access to the full-text to more than 180 scholarly and peer-reviewed journal titles in history, literature, philosophy, religion, theater, music and film, among others.  top>>

• Ethnic NewsWatch is a multidisciplinary, full-text collection of the newspapers, magazines, and journals from ethnic, minority, and native presses. The collection provides a broad diversity of perspectives and viewpoints on current and historical topics. Searchable in both English and Spanish.
• GenderWatch is a full-text database to publications that focus on the impact of gender across a broad spectrum of subject areas. Publications include academic and scholarly journals, magazines, newspapers, newsletters, regional publications, books, booklets, government and non-governmental organization special reports.
• National Newspapers 5 is a full-text collection of five national newspapers: Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and Washington Post.
• Los Angeles Times is a major daily newspaper from Los Angeles. With the nation's largest editorial department, it offers extensive coverage of national, international, and local news.  top>>

NetLibrary provides access to the library’s eBook collection. eContent is the digital version of books, journals, and database content. You can access the library’s eContent 24 hours a days, seven days a week.  top>>

• Auto Repair Reference Center is a collection of Chilton Repair Manuals in e-books format. This collection contains Chilton Repair Manuals on domestic and imported vehicles from 1954 to the present. Approximately 23,000 vehicles are covered in this collection. Each manual includes detailed information and diagrams to repair and maintain a vehicle, plus wiring diagrams. In addition to the technical information, Auto Repair Reference Center includes a labor time guide and estimator, recall bulletins, and maintenance schedules. top>>

FACTS.com brings together complete content from the Facts On File World News Digest since 1940, and content from core reference databases, including Issues and Controversies, Editorials on File and more, to answer questions about events, issues, statistics and people of the last six decades. Features include historic events, maps, photographs, historic documents, and overviews of key issues, newsmakers and events.  top>>

GaleNet is an online reference service that provides access to the following databases:

• Discovering Collection is a cross-curricular reference source for the core curriculum areas of Literature, History, Biography, Science, and Social Studies. Features biographies, topical overviews, critical analyses, plot summaries, events, and media elements into a single database.

• Literature Resource Center - LRC provides access to biographies, bibliographies and critical analyses of authors from every age and literary discipline. LRC covers more than 120,000 novelists, poets, essayists, journalists and other writers, with in-depth coverage of 2,500 of the most studied authors.

• Gale Virtual Reference Library and eBooks. Provides access to the content of reference sources in a database format for multidisciplinary research. The library’s current subscription includes the following eBook titles:

   

  • Drugs, Alcohol, and Tobacco: Learning about Addictive Behavior contains approximately 200 articles covering a range of topics, from binge drinking to the role of genetics in addictive behaviors. Also includes additional articles on media representation, drug use in schools, herbal supplements, and more.                                                                                 

  • Encyclopedia of World Biography includes approximately 7,000 biographies on notables from every part of the world and from all time periods. Also includes thousands of photos, a consolidated index, and more.

  • Gale Encyclopedia of Everyday Law articles provide brief descriptions of an issue's historical background, profiles of various U.S. laws and regulations, details of how laws and regulations vary from state to state, comprehensive bibliographies that include print and Web resources and lists of relevant organizations.  top>>
