Reference Assistance
Librarians are available Monday through Saturday to provide research
assistance using an extensive collection of reference sources. They may be
reached at Ext. 2425.
Bibliographies And Book Lists
With sufficient lead time, librarians will prepare bibliographies and
other written guides for your courses. Ask to see samples at the reference
desk or on the web.
Acquisitions Of Books And
Periodicals Library collection development is a joint
responsibility of library faculty and classroom faculty. Classroom faculty
may order materials by submitting an order request form for Books/Periodicals
or Websites. Classroom faculty are also encouraged to work with library
faculty on collection development in their area of expertise.
Reserve Services
Faculty may have library materials, as well as items from their personal
collections, placed on reserve for students’ use. Requests should be
submitted three days prior to need. See Reserve
Room Policies for more details. Call Ext. 2423 or visit the
circulation desk.
Online Resources The
online book catalog provides access to all titles in the library’s
collection. In addition, the library subscribes to over 45 web-based
databases from services such as EbscoHost, NewsBank, GaleNet, RAND
California, Facts.com, CountryWatch, Ethnic NewsWatch, GenderWatch,
Project Muse, and Grove’s Dictionary of Art Online. These resources
include citations and full-text for journals, general interest
periodicals, newspapers, and selected reference works. They are updated
regularly and provide coverage in some cases as far back as 1985.
Interlibrary Loan And Document
Delivery Faculty may obtain materials not available in our
library by filling out an Interlibrary Loan Request form at the
circulation desk.
Circulation Books
generally circulate to faculty for one semester with the option to renew.
Faculty loans are subject to recall when there are requests for the
materials.
Display Cases Faculty
may reserve display cases for limited periods of time to exhibit special
materials. Call Ext. 2423.
