Consult With A Librarian Before
The Assignment Librarians will work with you to design an
appropriate assignment that will achieve your course goals and objectives.
A well-designed library assignment gives students a positive library
experience and enhances information competency skills for life-long
learning.
Be Sure The Library Holds The
Needed Materials Please be aware that the library does not
acquire textbooks required for courses. If you have a personal or
examination copy of a textbook that you would like to provide for student
use, Circulation staff will be happy to place the item on reserve.
Send Us Advance Assignments
Please send us your syllabus and assignments, including due dates.
This will ensure that library faculty is ready to help your students when
needed.
Schedule Orientations Early
Please schedule orientations and class visits as far in advance as
possible to avoid conflicts. Instructors must accompany classes during
library orientations. You can schedule an orientation
online or by calling Ext. 2425.
Encourage Students To Attend A Library Research
Workshop The ASC offers
Library Research Workshops as part of their
College Study Skills series. These workshops are taught by a
Librarian and teach students about the many print and online resources
available in the Library. If you can't arrange for a one hour library
orientation session for your entire class, encourage your students to
attend one of the ASC Library Research workshops.
Book Selection Please advise us of important books
and/or journals in your field. We are anxious to support your classroom
instruction with the appropriate materials. Recommend
materials by submitting an order request form for Books/Periodicals
or Websites.
