Newspaper and Magazine Articles
Use periodical databases to find articles and opinion pieces written
about the propositions.
- Go to the Library Home Page at
http://www.cerritos.edu/library/
Select the link to Magazines, Journals, Newspapers & More
Select
NewsBank
and
ProQuest for newspaper articles or
EbscoHost for magazine articles

Searching Options
Searching ProQuest
Click on Clear all databases and then select only the Los
Angeles Times and click on Continue.
Conduct your search:
- In the Basic Search box, enter the words ballot
propositions or the individual proposition you’re interested
in (e.g proposition 83) as your search terms to find
articles about the November ballot initiatives.
- In the Date range box, click “last three months” for the
most current information on the ballot initiatives.
- For each of these searches you will get more than one article as
a result. Look through the list of article titles and click on the
title to see the full text.
- You can print or email the article.
Searching NewsBank
Scroll down and select the Los Angeles Times or the Orange
County Register
Conduct your search:

In the
Search box, enter the words ballot propositions
and california
or the individual proposition you’re interested in (e.g
"proposition 83" using quotation marks) as your search terms to find articles
about the November ballot initiatives.

In the search
box, enter the words that best describe what you’re looking for
– e.g. cigarette tax and “proposition 86”

Results
appear in reverse chronological order, with the most recent
articles appearing at the top. Look through the list of
articles and click on the full text or PDF icon to read the full
article. You can print of email the article.

If no icon
appears, you must get the article in paper format. EbscoHost
tells you whether or not Cerritos College Library subscribes to
the magazine.
