Great People, Events and Objects in HistoryYour search for information on people, objects, and events that have had a great impact on society can include books, periodical articles, online databases, and authoritative Internet resources.
Books
Use the Library Catalog to find books on your subject. You can search the catalog by subject or keyword(s) to find information on a specific event, object or person.
Listed below are some books that may be useful in your background research.
Online Journal and Reference Articles
Journals and magazines usually provide the most current information on a topic. Journal articles are more scholarly or professional while magazine articles tend to be shorter and more general. Newspaper articles, while not usually scholarly or professional, can give you the most current news and some additional facts on your topic. To find articles on your topic, use one of the online indexes listed below. Use subject headings similar to those used to locate books. The Library also has print indexes that must be used to find older articles, generally anything published before 1985.
