Migrant Farm Worker Murders – 1971
Twenty-five
migrant farm workers are found murdered in a space of six weeks.
In the Los Angeles Times Index for 1972, see the personal names index in the
second half of the index. You will want to look this up by using the suspects
last name, Corona, Juan. Normally, you would want to look at the listings for
Juan V. Corona, but in this particular index, it looks as if the LA Times made a
typing error because the listings for Juan D. Corona, and Juan Corona are also
for this particular case and suspect. The LA Times in this library begins with
the 1972 volume, so the citations listed are from March 19, 1972-December 25,
1972. Write down the entire citation with the month, day, section, page, and
column number, so you will be able to locate the articles on microfilm. In this
LA Times Index, also look under Murder & Manslaughter in the subject index
in the first half of the index.
In the Readers’ Guide, you will want to go to the volume that covers March
1971-February 1972, to begin research. Search under Corona, Juan V., and you
will find citations to several articles in Time and Newsweek.
