Students to be Honored at Commencement on May 19

WHAT: Cerritos College will hold its 2017 commencement ceremony to honor its graduating students on Friday, May 19 at 6 p.m. in Falcon Stadium. The College will present associate degrees and skills certificates earned during the 2016-2017 academic year. More than 3,000 students will be receiving degrees and certificates, making the largest graduating classes in the Cerritos College history. 

Students graduating and transferring will be transitioning to some of the nation’s top colleges and universities, including UCLA, UC Berkeley, UC Santa Barbara, California State Universities Northridge, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Fullerton, among others.

This year's commencement speaker is Michele Siqueiros, President of the Campaign for College Opportunity. Michele works to expand access and success in college for California students by raising public attention on the critical challenges facing higher education, mobilizing a broad coalition of supporters, and influencing policymakers. Michele graduated from Pitzer College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Studies with Honors in Chicano/a Studies.  She received her Master of Arts in Urban Planning from the University of California, Los Angeles. 

The ceremony is free. The entrance gates are located on both the northeast and northwest sides of Falcon Stadium and will open at 4:30 p.m. No strollers will be admitted into the stadium for the ceremony.

COST: Commencement is free and open to the public. Parking is free in Lot 1 on Commencement day. The stadium is located on the south side of Alondra Boulevard.
