NORWALK, Calif. – October 23, 2017 – Cerritos College hosted the fourth annual Culinary Arts Extravaganza and Job Expo on October 19 and 20.
More than 20 culinary arts and hospitality employers participated and provided information on job and internship opportunities to nearly 100 attendees during the October 19 job fair.
Six current students and six alumni of the College’s culinary arts program competed in the fourth annual Marukan Cup of Culinary Excellence the next day. More than 150 students from local high schools and Cerritos College students who are interested in the College’s culinary arts program watched the exciting cooking competition, and took a glimpse into what they will be experiencing in the program. Four local top chefs served as judges. The event also featured prize drawings and food and product demonstrations. The winners of the cooking competition were awarded cash prizes.
“We are pleased to host this exciting event every year,” said Michael Pierini, associate professor of culinary arts, Cerritos College. “The event gives current and prospective students a great opportunity to network with employers and top chefs in the industry.”
