Thank you for visiting my web page. My name is Irene Theresa Martinez. I was a student at Cerritos College from Fall 1993 through Fall 1999. Of course, this is a very long time to be at what is supposed to be a two-year college, but as we all know, things don't always go as planned. I am now enrolled at UCLA as a Women's Studies major. During my last semester at Cerritos College, I became involved in the Scholars Honors Program (SHP). The Scholars Honors class I took with Dr. Kreger was a world cultural geography class with an emphasis on women in Third World nations. I found this class very enlightening and credit it with helping me choose my major in Women's Studies. As my project for the SHP program, I chose to do a research paper discussing the prostitution of women and children from Third World Countries. This web page was designed to provide access to my research paper for any interested party. Although I do not consider myself by any means an authority on human rights issues, I found studying this issue very moving and hope that through my research, I can help someone else think about this issue and challenge them to come to their own conclusion. |
